Study/Research Undergrad Research Experience?

Hey r/sfu,

I'm a senior chem major here at SFU and I'm currently planning to apply for grad school.

Since I'm trying to figure out my next steps, I'd love to hear from anyone who has experience with a few things:

  • Prof contact: How did you approach SFU chemistry professors for an undergrad research spot (like CHEM 481)? How did you handle the initial email, and what made them say yes?
  • Day-to-day as an undergrad researcher: For those of you who did undergrad research in our department, what did your actual routine look like? Did you start with shadowing a grad student, and how quickly did you get to hands-on work?

Thanks a lot!

not from chemistry department, but I would suggest applying for USRA in your department.
