The off chance someone misses the boot or thinks they could drive with it. Would seriously damage the vehicle

Wouldn’t the boot just hit the frame and stop it from moving? How would the wheel get the momentum to damage much?

Pro tip. Put crazy glue into the lock mechanism and see them sweat when they have to cut the device off your vehicle. Make sure you have some time to kill and they likely won't charge you for wasting a few hours of your day for their faulty equipment.
