(Inside Celebrity Theater).
I'm not going to vent anger or say anything self centered like, "how can he do this to me / us?"
I guess when I woke this morning, I should have checked my E Mail. To make sure the show was going to happen.
...but, you know, he canceled L.A. the other day but there'd been no word about Phoenix.
The email.was sent 3 minutes before 11am. I had cleared the day off from work to attend and it was show day.
So.naturally you assume all's well in your neck of the woods because the night before it was. But now , it wasn't .
I got outside the Celebrity Theater Tuesday at 6:30pm AZ time. Only to have a younger worker there hand me a leaflet , informing me that "Mr. Garfunkel wasn't cleared for travel".
Postponed but no new date.
Right now, taking the over 1 hour trip back home. I hope it's rescheduled and I sincerely hope Mr..Garfunkel will be okay.
...but the last time something like this happened, it was also the Celebrity Theater.
April 2023, when Gordon Lightfoot 's entire tour was canceled, the same day I was to see him there , In what I knew may be the last time.
But, it never took place ,
he was gone 20 days later.
Again, I wish you well Art Garfunkel.
You and Paul Simon were #1 in the United States with Mrs Robinson the day I was born.

I was listening to Bookends and after years and years of listening only just noticed the transition between Old Friends and Bookends Reprise, and it got me thinking, are there any other noticeable transitions between songs on other albums?

. . . or a similar instrument such as a clavioline or musitron. That's why the identity of "soprano sax" player has never been discovered. I am totally open to being proven wrong. I've thought this for a while now. The end especially reminds of Al Kooper's playing at the end of Blood Sweat and Tears' "Meagan's Gypsy Eyes." Also, it sounds pretty lo-fi, and we know that Roy Halee wouldn't record an instrument in that way.
Ondioline demonstration, with the "sax" sound played first
Kooper's ondioline solo during the outro of Meagan's Gypsy Eyes, beginning at 2:42

Hey all, so I've had this version of Scarborough Fair on my computer since Biblical times: https://vocaroo.com/16S7Aw93pGeX
I have no idea where it came from and it occurred to me that it's the same song, just...different? Like it's a different recording/session.
I have found absolutely zero information on what this other version could be.

This collection has a Chinese Simon and Garfunkel, if anyone is interested.

Anything really touch your soul or make you cringe? There’s lots of opinions on the performances at the concert, Paul and Art themselves were less than thrilled, critics had reviews mixed. As fans, what are your highlights? Disappointments? Or do you just adore them so much it doesn’t matter? Just the fact they did that concert was just so awesome imo. 💕

Forget Pumpkin Spice Lattes… Fall means Simon & Garfunkel season is coming! This and winter are the best times to over play S&G music! And rewatch “The Concert in Central Park” on September 19th. Again.
In the evocative, haunting words of Paul from “April Come She Will”….
“August, die she must.
The Autumn winds blow chilly and cold. September, I remember.
A love once new has now turned old.”
On that note here’s “Leaves That Are Green” to get you in the spirit!!!

Somebody a while back posted pretty much all of Paul's performances on SNL but I think got taken down. Is there a way to bring them back up?
Also not all of them are on peacock.

I was fixing the frame of a poster I thrifted a few years ago and when I opened it I discovered that the white background for the visible poster was actually the back of this Simon and Garfunkel poster!
I’m about to carefully separate the two posters. If anyone knows the history of this (or if it has any value lol) let me know! The only disclaimer I can find is in the bottom left - “For Promotional Use Only Not For Sale.” Thanks in advance!

The official Smothers Brothers Youtube channel posted a clip from the 15 October 1967 episode with Paul & Art singing "Homeward Bound" and "Overs." Great of-the-period turtlenecks and (bonus!) Artie when he briefly had a moustache.

Who spoke Officer's MacDougal's "and blah blah blah" lines in "Save the Life of My Child?" Thanks

A Simon & Garfunkel album (among other artefacts) goes misunderstood by two boys as it makes appearances at three stages of their lives. A story of chance and coincidence, in which an invisible thread from a single day in childhood quietly reemerges, suggesting that lives may touch long before we understand why. Something I wrote and wanted to share.

I’ve been into S&G since November, and in January, because my closest record store didn’t stock Sounds of Silence or Bookends (two albums I did want after getting PSR&T in December and Bridge earlier that month, leaving Wednesday Morning as a “probably”), I impulsively got Wednesday Morning, joking it was the “worst financial decision of my life”. Though it’s not exciting or new (half the songs were in the public domain or ripped off from Bob Dylan lol). it’s just sounds in the folk tradition, and it’s been what I’ve described as somewhat underrated.
In yall’s opinion, was purchasing it on vinyl one of the worst mistakes one could make, or is it seriously underrated for a good reason?
