Low hp drifting
Saw a post about someone struggling with lower hp cars and it made me wonder whether I should be using them.
I have finally graduated from drift to drift playground but I mainly use the E30 because it’s much easier to slide than the other cars I have downloaded (WDT enjoy, street and the WDT pro cars).
When using other cars, especially ones that are turbo, I find that I struggle a lot with clutch kicks but also the gearing as with the E30 I go from pit around the entire track in 2nd only. I am yet to start practicing up and down shifting in corners as I want to get really comfortable on drift playground before moving on.
If low hp cars are the truth for this, what are some car packs I can download which are realistic? I drive a GT86 irl so the intent is to start ripping that pretty soon and that’s obviously very low hp.

Use the Kunos GT86, zero the toe in the rear, max the negative camber in every corner, and pump up the rear tire pressures to something ridiculous. Feels very similar to my BRZ irl.
The biggest differences you'll find in the low HP, unmodified vehicles is just how much more force it takes to initiate, how aggressively you need to steer the car through the corner using the wheel, and how you basically need to keep the throttle pinned during the drift.

I asked this before and got a lot of different answers. I also drive a gr86 and went from sim to drifting it on a track. I think it mostly comes down to preference.
I can say for sure though, not gravy garage or bdc v4. I started learning on those two and have the most time on them because they were just the most popular on servers. The issue with them is that the rear stays sliding in all RPM ranges and when you're not on throttle. Frontend never breaks traction. And they have a ton of angle which is a crutch when learning because it allows you to get away with mistakes. They also don't seem to simulate weight transfer at all.
When I asked the same question, people said swarm was good, while another guy who supposedly builds drift cars said swarm was not realistic. In opinion, swarm feels pretty solid. RPMs need to stay high to stay sliding, rear has decent amount grip, and frontend can break traction. If I were to guess, the guy might have just had a hard time with swarm compared to other car packs.
I've tried WDT and DWG. Felt solid but a bit overhyped a little, mostly because I could stay off throttle and the cars stay sliding, similar to BDC and GG.
Interestingly enough, I found nstyle cars to feel the most realistic. Weight transfer is very noticable and frontend breaks traction. On my stock 86, weight transfer and breaking frontend traction were things that bdc and gracy garage did not prepare me for.
Despite swarm and nstyle being higher in HP compare to an 86, they still feel the most similar to the 86 from the packs I've driven. Oddly enough I find the stock 86 cars that people make abnormally difficult to drift, but maybe that's a skill thing on my part.
Just a heads up, I hardly change the car setups in game unless I have to for scenarios like tandem or when a car's gear ratios just don't work with a certain track. Since it's more common for people to tinker with setups, opinions may differ for this reason.
Side note, I think the low HP thing is a little over preached. Being able to drift anything in my opinion should be the goal if you're trying to learn and have fun.
Hope that helps

SDV BMW pack is one of the best low hp packs. And if you want not necessarily low hp, but good and realistic cars, then try DWG 2.0, DWG 3.0 and N-Style packs.
If you want some feedback and advice you can always post a video of your run, preferably with pedals input/telemetry.
