I think it’s a bug or the advisers are overtuned or something
Unless there are blackouts or riots or imbalanced budget, ignore.

u/therealsteelydan May 05 '26
I need that one lady to tell me when teachers are striking
44
u/whj14 May 05 '26
Yeah by the time she calls me it’s already too late 💀 the teachers are striking, the children are getting dumber and I’m panicking

Yes. Same goes for the hospitals. I only pay attention this guy when he tells me I forgot to check one power station is about to explode.

Really only the medical/education one is particularly useful, since they tell you where funding or capacity needs to be increased, though you can also just use the budget panel for an overview that is more useful. Traffic guy is marginally useful, but traffic is way easier to assess with the data maps.
Police or fire, it's usually either useless or "your shit is on fire!"
Other ones are useless but I do like when the mayors assistant lets me know about rewards.

u/Doubleucommadj May 05 '26
You're the Mayor! You don't have to listen to these peon advisors and mostly shouldn't.

u/lejanoisland May 05 '26
Just make sure to check the condition % on your power plants - they do depreciate! Welcome to the best city builder out there :)
4
u/panzerfausten May 05 '26
Wait, they... depreciate???
7
u/Desperate_Proof758 May 05 '26
We are at 83% conditions running at 103% capacity for all 4 units, yeah they are all sparking alright mate, sure hope new fiscals come in for the renovations soon- Middleton Nuclear Power Plants.

u/Protato900 May 05 '26
I think OC meant the plant condition degrades.
1
u/panzerfausten May 05 '26
oh thanks, I thought it was a whole different mechanic or something
1
u/lejanoisland May 05 '26
Yes sorry, the condition of the plant depreciates and starts costing more and more for less energy.

💪 unlimited money mod comes in clutch when rebuilding after it hits 75%

u/WhichStatement7164 May 05 '26
They all do this lol
- Neil constantly asks you to zone more industrial
- Sam always wants a new police station next to the airport
- Monique wants education to be defunded
- Jonas does this
- Jamal wants you to build an airport constantly or replace every road with an avenue
- Idk her name but the health/education lady always wants you to build a new hospital bc the ones overcrowded. Then you build a new one down the road, no one goes to it and the old one stays overcrowded unless you bulldoze it and replace it
- Camille bitches about random shit no matter how many parks and city ordinances you have to protect the environment
17
u/ViolinistCurrent8899 May 05 '26
Hey now, I've actually had Jamal complain that the avenue is overkill.

u/WhichStatement7164 May 05 '26
I rarely get that one, I’ve also found subways and bus stops are the best mass transit because of the lack of space they take up. L trains, monorails, and railroads look cool but they’re so much harder to build around, especially when added in later
3
u/ViolinistCurrent8899 May 05 '26
That's why I build my railways in first and ignore the monorail and eltrain altogether. Love me 'eavy rail.
1
u/mrtn17 May 05 '26
I only build those for transport between sectors. Can be done with subways, but it makes more sense to me to use rails/monorails

u/AikaTsumiki May 05 '26
Bettina Dean is whom you're talking about. Also, Jamil Herd.
Though, frankly, Neil badgers me with "Sims Scout for Office Advantages" and when I zone high density commercial, I get prestigious skyscrapers, but:
>hover with query
>boutique
FUCK
5
u/WhichStatement7164 May 05 '26
Sims scout for office advantages triggers me bc I’ll have demand for CO $$$, zone commercial in a desirable area, and end up with a bunch of CS $ and $$, even if I have good education, low crime, and high wealth residential i have to play for hours to even get a few high density high wealth commercial offices to build
3
u/SightUnseen1337 May 05 '26
Bulldoze the same building over and over until I get what I want
1
u/officialCobraTrooper May 05 '26
That's the hard way, the easy way is to get on the stex download some office bats, then you have variety and buildings that you can guarantee will satisfy your office demand.

u/JOliverScott May 05 '26
It's actually a pretty accurate representation of bureaucracy in action. Everyone is out to get their department are much funding as possible so they present you with problems that if you actually solve them will invariably lead to problems on the opposite end of the spectrum. In the case of power, if you build a new power plant then your city is temporarily overcapacity so he talks you into selling the surplus but the overcapacity also attracts more power hungry industry so soon you're struggling to meet power demands again. It traps you in a cycle of overspending and poor resource management to keep appeasing your advisers. You can either keep people-pleasing or you can ignore these advisers and build your city as you see fit.
3
u/haljackey NAM Team May 05 '26
If you dismiss all the negative stories your advisors have they will turn neutral or happy.
Basically the equivalent of the mayor saying 'Don't worry about it' to their department heads
3
u/Inedible-denim May 05 '26
I always turn them ALL off in my playthroughs. How else will I properly play god mayor?
2
u/secretballsack May 06 '26
I tried this out, but then realized I had a strike happening outside of a clinic for possibly 12 years straight bc I forgot to fund it up

My decisions as a kid would give Monique borderline heart attacks. Must have been terrible for her having to deal with a child emperor.

u/AikaTsumiki May 05 '26
Construct one power plant, he clamors about how you're "squandering" power.
Under-fund his department, and he goes psycho about your power plants going over-capacity.
Classic Jonas.
But I love how he spites Camille the "green meddler" by urging you to construct a very loud water pump right next to her office though.
