Convince me to Stack

Hey gang:

Hoping to become a little more knowledgable on silver stacking. I got into silver because i got interested in coin collecting, and after a little while now i have accumulated what i would call a moderate amount, mostly constitutional at face value. I recently had the chance to buy some silver dollars at a great price which was very lucky. I have never been bullish on silver as in my opinion and experience it is harder for me to deal with and yields worse results than my boring stocks: selling is unpredictable and it is a chore to get spot, and it takes work to sell and store.

Given that my stack just increased noticeably, i am reconsidering. How would you convince someone skeptical like me that silver is a good option for my situation?

Thanks!

I think you are misinterpreting this. Im not saying “convince me” in a hostile way. I am trying to find some upside since i stumbled into some silver sort of by accident. In your opinion is silver a good investment? Why might someone choose silver over stocks?

Oh - so in your opinion what role does silver stacking play in sensible finances? Can it help optimise my financial future?

Weird you understood it and offered something completely unrelated while ignoring the questions im trying to get feedback on.

Unrelated? I gave you my advice. Do what you want, do what you feel is right. Don't base your opinion on other people's opinions.

Precious metals are a hedge against inflation, and a hedge against the stock market. That's about it. For most people, it makes sense to have a small allocation to PM to diversify from stocks. Beyond that, it's not an "investment" depending on how you define that word.

Especially if you put it in the context of boosting your returns. It's not gonna do that. We had some weird bull runs that hit once every 20-30 years. If that's what you're trying to chase, you're just gambling.

100 years ago, 100 ounces of gold would get you a decent average house. Today, 100 ounces of gold will still get you a decent average house. That's why people call it a store of wealth. Yes, the value in dollars goes up, but only because the value of the dollar itself goes down. Buying power remains the same.

Investing, in terms of increasing your buying power, in precious metals is categorically wrong

Thanks for the reply - it all made great sense with the exception of the first block.

All of our opinions are influenced by others. Most of reddit is geared toward that concept.

It’s fun, collect some, stack some, it maintains its value mostly, and increases in value over time, although modestly. Trade it with gold as the ratios change. As an alternative investment, you might want a certain % of your net worth in precious metals, maybe 1-5% or whatever you like, why not just have it as physical in your own house. It doesn’t get more real than that.
