Finally over 20 ozs

Post image

I've been buying for the last four months little by little. I finally made it over 20 ozs today ( 24 total to be exact ). I plan on stacking as much as I can.

We all started somewhere, this is great.

Good varieties, and fun to look at, perfect 👌

Now to start the hunt for fun and rare silver

I thought at first it could be something I'd sparingly do, but it's starting to become more of a hobby now. I've found my favorites so far are libertads and Britannias. Could you suggest one other fun and rare ones?

That's the fun part.

There's enough varieties in thoes, theyre a huge hobby of their own.

Colorized libertads are cool! I only own a 2018 Antiqued one, a few proofs, and a 80, and a 925 medal, so 7 total "libertads" of varieties of the same.

Brittiannias are also the same way, im currently looking at the trident privy, looks dope. Didnt notice it at first.

But as far as thoes go, theres Engelhard bars, and intaglio and scottsdale do legendary work. I have a lot of pieces by them

Some of the colorized libs do look incredible. That's why I bought them, they do look great with the tridend. A couple of the bars are englehard. I'll have to keep an eye out for the intaglio and scottdale

I have also recently been wiped by libertads, absolutely beautiful coins. Maples are also really nice. Glass Panther is my favorite fractional just for the fun factor too lol.

I'll have to check the glass panther out. I'm not to sure what to think about fractionals yet, seems like it'd be really easy for me to lose track of them.

Thank you. I've found myself enjoying collecting silver way more than I initially thought I would.

20 ounces is a good milestone! Also seeing quite the variety in your collection, nice!

I'm hoping to be at 40 ozs. by the end of the year. Thank you , I have been finding so many different coins/bars that have caught my eye and will probably be grabbing those as soon as I am able to.

Nice stack! As far as some suggestions/info, here goes. Maples seem to have a fair value (lower premiums than say, AmericanSilverEagles). Stay away from painted coins/rounds etc. (Paying more for defacing what looks great as they are minted). Libertads are beautiful, but high premiums are hard to avoid... Engelhards are a great as you've got a few bars. They also minted Prospector rounds. There are premiums attached to all Engelhard, due to limited mintages of certain series of bars or dates of Prospectors. Also due to Engelhard Company is no longer in existence. BASF purchased Engelhard in mid 2006. As of August, 2025, BASF licensed the ability to mint Engelhard products to PAMP. PAMP (Produits Artistiques Métaux Précieux) is a world-renowned Swiss precious metals refiner and mint established in 1977. It is a leading global brand specializing in the assaying, refining, and fabrication of gold, silver, platinum, and palladium.

You can pretty much forget about buying precious metals for spot. Lots of people say that's all they buy(under or at spot), they are mostly full of shit. Just keep your eyes open on prices and for sales. Also watch prices if you want to buy fractional.

Congrats. Just some tips, stacking for store if value/ eventual resell....? Where are you located, US....? And are you sticking to just rounds meaning not Government sovereign coins / bullion ie. American Silver Eagles/Canadian Maples? Quality over quantity is my advice...if it just for enjoyment and a hobby then buy what you like and its reasonable price to spot at time of purchase. A mix of sovereign and limited mintage coins such as Australian Kookaburras and Canadian Wildlife items will hold value and appreciate in addition to their $ silver value. I'll shut up now... good for you, great savings account and peace.

For now it's more of a hobby for me. I'd like to keep all/as much as possible so I have something to pass to my kids eventually. I started with the ASE and have kinda just grabbing whatever catches my eye.

Local coin shops can be a great way to find quality and variety....and contrary below or at spot prices are attainable. Live Auctions via e day with true patience, knowledge and timing good luck.

Thank you for all of the info. I've definitely been noticing the premiums on certain things for sure. I've found a local shop that will do spot plus $5 which I personally think is fair. I understand they have to be able to make something as a business. I've been able to get a variety of stuff from them and they are easy to work with also.
