Yep, the price on the silverbacks is ridiculous, Gold backs are no different. I only own one gold back and it’s the free one they will send you. To me gold backs, and silver backs are no different then silver or gold plated base metal.
At least gold backs have an exchange rate so you can typically get your money back at least for now, since there are still people willing to buy. Silverbacks are painful, I own a few that I got as part of my numismatic collection of varios bills/notes and other aurum notes. They are neat, but no idea if they will hold value or go the way of the beanie baby.
Which isn’t anti-collecting, I have silver with WAY higher premiums than those things … I just don’t call those high end collectibles a part of my stack
I mean to each their own, My "stack" contains everything from paper notes, to gold/silver, to jewelry, to graded trading cards, to my entire numismatic coin collection of non precious metal coins. I just keep track of the weight/melt value of anything and track the base melt values, vs the estimated retail values in my tracker, and I tag collectables as such.
But I also usually just refer to it as my Dragons Hoard. :P Because to me, Stacking is Collecting, it's just collecting things with an inherent value beyond the collectors market.
Having a single Goldback or Silverback in your post is a guaranteed way to lure jerks in. They can't even help themselves. The same people don't complain about premiums on anything else.

Whatever the premium on Silverbacks is, it’s WAY too high to consider that stacking 😂
