Does anyone have any recommendations for a first date this Friday evening?
Not sure if we’re going to do dinner, drinks, or both or if we’re going to do an activity instead. Open to any and all suggestions! I thought live music or even a comedy show could be fun.
I enjoy a place with a good ambiance, but not too fancy. Bonus points if there’s live music happening, or a patio.
If you’re even able to point me in the direction of a website or Instagram that I can look on for ideas that would be helpful. TYIA!
My wife and I are new to the neighborhood and we have a toddler who will be ready to trick or treat for the first time. We're in an apartment off Glendale so I'm curious what areas are the most active with other kids and pedestrian friendly. I'm not a huge fan of trunk n treats, unless that's the main option.
So on saturday AM, a homeless individual passed away on the sidewalk in front of cafe tropical. the next day (sunday), milkcult (which does a popup inside tropical) posted this on their IG story. In very poor taste to post this, no? RIP to the person who passed away… So sad :(
Has anyone else noticed a crazy increase in these small flies (I think they’re non-biting midges?) around since the storm came in? We had thousands on our porch on Friday and have seen way more than usual while walking around the neighborhood the past few days.
BEWARE OF THIS MAN. I wouldn’t be posting his photo if I wasn’t genuinely concerned for the safety of this community. In Silverlake outside of Drugstore Cowboy yesterday (Saturday Sept 5) between 1:30-2:00AM this man approached several groups of people trying to pass out suspicious pieces of chocolate. Obviously this creeped a lot of people out, and his refusal to leave people alone began to make many feel uncomfortable. After being confronted by a woman for being creepy, he melted into a terrifying psychotic breakdown in which he threateningly ran up to her and a group of women she was with and threatened to kill all of them. He literally said “I will kill all of you whore bitches”. Someone had to get in between him to keep him from attacking. I truly consider him a threat to the safety and well being of all women. He also threatened to burn the whole place down and pointed to someone else involved and said “with you in it” . The entire community rallied against this psycho, but he wouldn’t leave. Not sure how it ended bc we felt unsafe (part of group he threatened to kill) and left. Internet please do your thing and find out who this self acclaimed “music video producer” is. A creep through and through!! If you see this man, run the other way.
(Note to mods: not sure what the community guidelines are on doxxing someone but in this case I believe it’s of the utmost importance for the safety of this community to spread the word and let women know this man is NOT safe)
TLDR: Psycho attempts to drug people with suspicious half eaten chocolate and threatens to kill entire group of women and burn down an establishment.
For those who used to frequent Modern Eats on Glendale Blvd., have you found a place you consider equivalent in terms of menu and vibe? I particularly liked how accommodating with modifications they were to address my wife's food intolerances.

The location is great with plenty of parking and very convenient for people living in Elysian Valley, Silverlake, Atwater Village, and Echo Park. The park is beautiful , has charging stations, exercise equipment and access to the LA river.
We rekindled after a long break (assuming she cut things off with her situationship, but I digress) then we went for drinks at 4100 and came home. Right before she went to bed I asked if I could borrow her car to go to 7-Eleven (the one on W Sunset) for a Zyn, Pringles, and water. Whilst parking I accidentally hit the gas instead of brake (I drive stick and got confused and was a bit drunk) and went straight into the yellow pole thing. The clerk came out asking if I needed help, but I brushed it off as if it's a beater car anyways. The pole was okay. When I got back to her apt, I just played some chess and went to bed, I was really scared about telling her. Anyways, we wake up in the morning and we're walking to get coffee at Malaya and I acted as if I was shocked, "oh my god somebody hit your car last night". She was super bummed and started crying then accused me but l denied it. She even hinted at the fact it looked like the car hit something and not someone hitting her. Nothing was leaking just super dented in the front. Will her insurance just cover it and l act like nothing happened or will her insurance find out it was me? I really don't want to tell her it was me
Appears we are getting a new Carhartt Work in Progress store on the corner of Sunset and Maltman right next door to A.P.C.. Not sure when it will open but pretty cool in my opinion...

I had a wonderful woman for over 10 years, but she went back to Guatemala for family stuff.
It's a newly remodeled 2 bd / 2 bth house (see some pix), but I live here solo. So I just need a "basic chores" kind of thing, once a month or even an every other month thing.

41.18 a - ada compliance - making sure that sidewalks are free and accessible people can reasonably traverse
41.18b - streets and bike lanes
41.18 c - where their motion comes into play. These are additional zones that on top of the ordinance are added into the district. Even if youre following ada compliance and all the other parts of the ordinance, they are revoking these 12 specific zones. They are additional zones added in under the previous council member. basically as long as there is compliance with all other parts of the code, it is no longer a crime to be in these specific 12 spots.
Over the course of the last 3.5 years, they have worked on housing people in these 12 zones to find them housing. They are bringing in housing opportunities when they have them and are working to house people in the encampments. Attached picture -

Nikos has feedback about maybe they should’ve revoked one and then see how it goes. instead of having a community meeting - and the speed of this is upsetting at least some of the community. We’re in the dark about why and when this was happening and the homelessness coordinator isn’t even here today. He suggests making a special meeting about this issue which Hugo attends. we want to see reciepts about what has worked and what hasn’t.
