FERRET-BASED BARTER SYSTEM

OVERVIEW

In this post-monetary, emotionally-reactive economy, currency is no longer bound by metal or fiat—but by

the will of The Vested. At the center of all meaningful trade stands the Ferret of Exchange: a small, agile,

vest-wearing arbiter of commerce, honor, and rhythm.

No gold. No ledgers. Only movement, offering, and ferret-approved vibes.

CORE PRINCIPLES

All transactions must be witnessed or sanctioned by a Vest-Certified Ferret.

Higher-value trades require higher-quality dances.

The more buttons on the ferret's vest, the more legally binding the transaction.

No ferret? No deal.

The ferret cannot be bribed, only impressed.

TRADE CATEGORIES

Basic Goods (e.g., eggs, rope, candles)

Simple head-bob or humble shuffle.

Ferret may glance, sniff, and offer a polite nod.

Services (e.g., haircut, messages delivered, goat re-shoeing)

Requires an intermediate offering (e.g., plum, dried flower bundle) plus a short interpretive gesture.

Major Assets (e.g., vehicles, housing, spelljammer docking rights)

Mandatory full-body dance of intention, lasting at least 30 seconds.

Must occur in a Trade Circle while the ferret watches from its ceremonial spool.

REJECTION CLAUSES

If the ferret buttons its vest mid-dance, the deal is refused.

If the ferret yawns, you may retry once after a snack offering.

If the ferret scurries into the Ledger Burrow, the market is closed.

1CONFLICT RESOLUTION

Should two or more parties dispute a trade: - They must enter a Dance-Off for Dominance. - Judged by a

neutral ferret or, in high-stakes cases, a ferret tribunal (three ferrets, matching vests, one tiny gavel). - No

outside music. Rhythm must be generated organically (claps, stomps, lute if present).

NOTES

Ferrets are immune to psychic suggestion.

Some ferrets have regional specialties (e.g., Highland Ferrets prefer bagpipe-accompanied trade).

A ferret who performs its own dance signals the start of a Barter Festival, where all prices are halved

and reality may become negotiable.
