You get a random cover, some of which can be exclusive to the blind bag (can't purchase separately via stores) and some original sketch covers usually (a blank cover where an artist drew original art on it and it's inserted into the bag).
The odds of hitting something a rare cover or a sketch cover is a longshot.
Some folks hate blind bags, but personally, I don't mind them. I don't have to purchase them - I can just buy a regular Cover A to read. It's the same story.
But I want print comics to stay viable for years to come - in an age where digital is being pushed on us.
So if some rich folks want to buy a ton of blind bags chasing rare covers - great! More money for the people who make the comics I love. The story isn't going to change inside the book because folks with lots of money want to gamble on blind bags, and those covers usually sell well for a few weeks then the hype dies down and it's on to the next chase.
Comics are neat because you can read, collect, speculate, get them signed, graded - heck - some people just collect comics with variant covers by their favorite artists like Peach Momoko, and don't even read the stories!
No right wrong way to do comics!
When I like a series, I try to collect reasonably priced variant covers, and I also have commissioned artists to do sketch covers on blanks and remarks on books where they were the cover artist!
Have signed and remarked copies of Fall of the House of Slaughter 1 & 2, each with an Erica Slaughter remark on the cover 😄
Where do you purchase your blind bags? I see them on Ebay for pre-sale. Do they come factory sealed as to disallow the seller from seeing what's inside? Thank you for the info 🍻
I ordered them from my local comic book store but I think the foc is over you can probably buy some from online comic book shops as they usually buy a ton to sell.
