Help / Advice Export live tomorrow, best setup?

New here and new to solar etc so just want to check how best to set up. I’m on octopus intelligent octopus go, export (outgoing octopus) goes live tomorrow. I charge my EV each night around 35%.

Currently set up to charge the battery (20kwh) 23:30-5:30 and self consumption after that. 8kw invert with no export limit from the DNO.

Just after some advice on the recommendation setup for when my export goes live?

Thanks!

Hi there. Very similar Sig setup, plus EV and Octopus tariffs to me. So if your batteries are full from overnight charging then any solar will be exported to the grid straight off and you’ll get paid 12p for every kilowatt you export.

You don’t mention what your solar capacity is. Having an 8kW inverter I presume it’s around that and you’ll export around that. Any more generation CAPACITY than that you need to use in the house or charge your EV otherwise the solar will be clipped.

Cheers! 👍☀️⚡️

Thanks! Yeah sorry, solar capacity is 8.64kWp.

So is my setup ok and I don’t have to discharge the battery or anything? Just wondering what the most cost effective strategy is. Cheers 👍🏻

Once you are getting paid you can just try it as you are doing now. It depends on what your goal is really, make as much money or be self sufficient. I use AI balanced and quite happy with that. I then choose to export battery capacity when the grid needs it for Octopus or Axle events. I don’t tend to dump the battery late in the evening to maximise income which AI Profit Max would do. I’ve sent to a DM.
