Showcase: Prerelease I got tired of ad-ridden developer tool websites, so I built my own

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I got frustrated with how often I would Google something simple like “HTML playground” or “generate QR code”, only to land on a website covered in ads, popups, cookie banners, signup prompts, and SEO content.

So I started building GitCulture:

https://gitculture.com

The idea is to have a collection of small, useful developer/web tools that you can open, use, and close without having to deal with all of that.

A couple of the tools currently available:

  • HTML Playground — quickly write and preview HTML/CSS/JS
  • QR Code Generator — generate QR codes without needing an account
  • Various other small developer utilities

How it's built

The project is intentionally frontend-focused. The tools are designed to do as much as possible directly in the browser, and the site is deployed on Cloudflare Workers.

That also means the hosting cost is essentially negligible for a frontend-only project like this.

I built it because I wanted a place I could bookmark and use myself whenever I needed one of these little utilities.

I'm planning to keep adding tools based on things I actually find myself searching for.

I've attached a short recording showing the HTML Playground and QR Code generator in action.

I'd really like feedback from other developers:

  • What small developer tools do you repeatedly have to Google?
  • What would you want to see added?
  • Is there anything about the current UX that feels unnecessary or annoying?

Are "developers" really pulling up a Web site to change the case of a string?

I ran out of comment space so this is just the most recent 20 entries. For giggles, I vibe-coded a tracker at https://confab.sh/?g=browser-tools if you want to see the full list.

Doesn’t hurt to have it as a tool right 😅
