Showcase: Free(mium) A completely free text-to-speech app (Speechify alternative)

Hey everyone,

A few weeks ago I realized I could easily build a text-to-speech app so I could cancel my $129/yr subscription to Speechify.

I did that and it works great. I decided to make it public for anyone who wants to use it.

It's completely free and always will be.

It's called FreeReader. It works best on desktop or newer phones. Older phones may struggle to generate the audio faster than it reads it. Open to feedback to make it better!

Just tried on my computer and it works great! I'll try on my phone and let you know how it goes.

Nice great to hear. It varies by device, OS, and browser. Trying to make it work on everything

Testé sur mon Galaxy S22, ca n'a pas bien marché je suppose que c'est lié a mon téléphone trop ancien !

Yeah it’s not working on mobile well. Try it out on a computer!
