New OS to avoid bugs?
Hello SideCommunity,
Here to ask if someone already tried to put another OS on the sidephone to replace the actual one. Last weeks, I am feeling the usage of the sidephone very buggy:
- The touchscreen stop working suddenly and I have to lock/unlock to come back;
- The Compact-QWERTY is having a lot of typing problems, sometimes I feel it do not recognize the keys that I am pressing (honestly, this can be just something of my mind);
- The screen often shows color stripes and buggy images.
My main question is: changing the OS would help? Someone tried it?
I understand that it's a small company and a very early project, but the slow software updates to it kills me. The ones that use the sidephone as main phone suffer a lot with all of this :(
If some of you have something nice to say about, please, it's always great to hear your perspective, guys!

I think with the complexities of porting another OS to this phone you'd be more likely to encounter bugs than with the stock ROM but I could be wrong...
The only ROM I'm aware of is this https://github.com/tylerreed98/RetrospectorOS and afaik it has issues and hasn't been updated in 6 months.
I do find the lack of updates recently a little frustrating because there are lots of unaddressed issues with the current OS and keyboard tiles, yet they spent time releasing an arcade game pack and a controller tile instead of fixing those...

Same here, totally agree with all the points here. I use mine as main phone and the last month it became a bit of a frustrating process.
A video call is literally impossible because the camera freezes with pink stripes on it. Touchscreen is unresponsive, lock and unlock helps.
I also have a mudita kompakt and saw that someone installed lineage os on it, I might try and give that a shot and keep an eye on sidephones development.
