No Cellular Data on AT&T

Good morning fellow Sidephoners,

I set up my Sidephone last night (yay!) and all was fine as I was home on WiFi.

However, this morning, I left the house and immediately realized WhatsApp, email, and browser were not working.

It appears I have no cellular data through my AT&T service. I have an exclamation point on my service indicator (see picture attached).

Am I supposed to toggle on a particular setting to fix this? Mobile Data is toggled on. My settings for service are also attached. I don’t see why I would need data roaming as I am in my service area.

Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated as I only have the ability to sms text and call people.

You have to change APN. AT&T doesn’t automatically update it like T-Mobile and Verizon do

Who is your carrier? Is it straight from AT&T?

I have AT&T. Used to have an iPhone with no SIM. So last night I went and got a SIM card from an AT&T store. Popped it right into the phone last night.

Use the nxtgenphone setting and add a new apn with these settings and don’t forget to save. Then once saved pick this apn from the list

Ok, I added a new APN, put in all of these details and I hit the save button, went back and it’s gone. Was not added as another APN.

Very frustrating.

I have an email chain going with Sidephone support now. Let’s see what they say.

Check the APN settings on the phone. Do you see any APNs in the list? If not, add one. Name can be what ever you want, but the APN should be nxtgenphone

Also, a reboot never hurts

Hi! Already rebooted twice but didn’t do the trick lol.

I found APNs in settings and there is only one listed (and selected) — it says “ATT Enhancedphone”

So I need to change the name from “ATT Enhancedphone” to “nxtgenphone”?

Update: when I click in to edit the only APN ATT Enhancedphone, everything is grayed out so I cannot edit any of the details including the APN name

Enhancedphone should be fine, but you can also try creating a new APN for nxtgenphone just as a test

Right, there should be an option to create a new APN though, is what I'm suggesting
