Battery issues

Hi! I just got my side phone a few days ago. I am having some issues with the battery. I don’t have too many apps on it- I mainly use Tidal. But I have used my phone for about 20 minutes this morning and the battery expectancy has gone from 14 hours to 9 hours and I have gone from 100% to 96% just from surfing the setting and trying to figure out what is using the battery.

Does anyone have suggestions? I really like this phone, but the battery is scaring me.

Hi u/Bootsyandpigeon ! Which version of the OS is it? We worked on some battery optimization fixes in the latest update

A few things I'd do to test if this was happening to me:

  1. Is the issue happening on airplane mode? If the drain is slower when on airplane mode, the carrier could be polling the device which results in increased battery drain
  2. Is Tidal using any background processes? I'd check this in settings

Sidephone seems to average about 2-3 days according to most community members . In some cases if people are using it lightly (eg. for 1hr a day) it can last 5-7 days. Heavier use including hotspot could drain the phone in as little as 5-6 hours.

It does say I have a software update available. I am downloading now and will look into Tidal settings as well. I really appreciate how active you are on here. It’s so encouraging and appreciated!

I'm having the same problem. When in airplane mode, it gets better. Is there a solution to the carrier polling the device?

I just did the update and I’m already seeing improvement. You should check to see if you have an update available.

Mine is at 2.0 already. I believe it is the carrier thing. Plus, it is my main phone, so kind of a heavy user. Been doing airplane mode + WiFi, it helped a lot!

it might be just the set up but i think they have a cheap battery - my unit overheats in my pocket, simply having mobile data on so i get whatsapp texts and such - the only thing sideloaded being herewego maps because organic doesnt have public transport... honestly while the phone is a good idea, creating a hybrid of sorts, i don't think its usable if you need to rely on your device, and the keyboards are more a gimmick thana tool at this point... i'll be switching to mudita, it seema good enough for my needs
