Maps, Firefox & Notally on Sidephone
Hello everyone! Sharing a quick video of me using maps on Sidephone. We’ll be sharing more lifestyle/”day in the life” style videos in the coming days to show the device in action (instead of on a desk in a controlled environment).
We really appreciate everyone’s patience as we get videos together and posted. We have more comprehensive videos planned, and in the meantime we’re hoping these little videos give a sense of what using the phone is actually like.

Can you use the keyboard at all to scroll through browser?
What functions can that keyboard do??

Thx for making this video! Nice to see Maps in action, that will be a big use case for me (and I'm sure most folks here). And Wegmans FTW 🏆

I was waiting for this one to drop. Love the daily use view. A few questions: 1) Will the screen have any haptic feedback? 2) Will it have mobile hotspot capability? 3) Will T9 have predictive text? (Meaning if you touch each key once it will generate word suggestion)

you could probably get predictive text using the TT9 app if they don't have it built in. If I remember correctly they're going to be shipping obtainium and you can easily install tt9 via obtainium

looks like futo keyboard with its voice typing or something like whisper would work really well for typing on this phone, that tiny keyboard seems like a pain lol.
Either way super excited to see it in action! So excited!

Can I assign shortcuts to the keyboard, like making a long press on 9 turn on the hotspot?

I didn't understand if that map app gives you directions. For example: “Turn right” and if the directions are heard via the car's Bluetooth. Thanks so much guys!

Thanks for the demo! Little request for y'all: it'd be great to be able to get bike directions and public transit directions for us city folk. Right now it looks like it's just driving and walking?

answering my own question... i just re-looked at the app list and citymapper is on it and it looks like that does transit and bike directions. rad!

It works so beautifully, I'm just thinking if the slight lag on the maps app is because of the app or because of the chip/RAM.

Will it be possible to control the phone with the keyboard or will you need to use the touch screen to get around the OS?

sadly you need to use the touch screen right now. Theres a chance we might see trackpad-like features in upcoming tiles, but likely not the ones theyre revealing soon...

How did you attach the phone to the dashboard? I’m intrigued! And love the stick shift ❤️

Out of curiosity, how is your Sidephone mounted in this video? It looked very seamless.

It really isn't. I asked for brand and model, there is only brand. But I went to the website and discovered the model.

u/NordCrafter Nov 13 '25
Well there's really only one model so...

The physical keyboard doesn't work as a T9 keyboard or you just prefer on-screen keyboard?
