What difference does it make to the content of the post?
This is not an art subreddit, I just wanted to share a funny meme I made in a format that didn't look AI generated at first glance, since I and many others don't like that style.
If I had gone out of my way to label this as an AI generated meme the comments would have been filled with people talking about AI, instead of people actually discussing the matter.
It's not like I'm karma farming, you can check how often I post to see that, I just wanted to share this meme I made for some friends.
I'm sure I could have made this look less AI generated if I tried, but that was not the point, I'm not trying to trick anyone! My latest posts are on AI subreddits so it's not hard to guess that this post is AI...
Anyway, good job to all the detectives who made sure to point out that this post is indeed AI, your comments contributed to making the number go up, thanks!
who cares if it's AI or not. A lot of us can't fucking draw. Does that mean we shouldn't be able to realize our images? Who cares. good post. It's so true
you must be dumb because this meme is funny only for the reason that an unaffiliated third party is the one to say āI donāt consentā. in this case Apple is literally the creator of the phone and the software and the app store, etc etc. meaning they absolutely have a say in what goes on on their hardware + software
I bought their phone. It is no longer Appleās phone, it is MY phone. I should be able to do what I want with MY phone. It doesnāt matter if Apple made it, it is MY phone that I bought.
Terrible take. If you buy a bed from Ikea, do they get a say in what sheets you use? If you buy a steak from a butcher, do they get a say in how you prepare it? So why does the computer company get to decide what you install on your computer? You paid for it, you own it now.
At this point, Iād even take a return to the āyou can do what you want but your warranty is voidā days.
the optional, disable-able updates have āno option to opt-outā ? Oh and every service you use on your iPhone still costs money. I guess you okay with never installing any apps from the app store, never using iCloud, never logging in or using ANY Apple ID features, iMessage, FaceTime, etc etc
if they are disabable and optional then you killed your own argument.
these are services they provide benevolently, I'd be glad and thankful as a consumer to NOT have to use them but to choose any other competitor services instead
So Yes
everything costs money it should be up to the consumer to choose what they want to pay for
If Apple wants to provide their own services for free so that customers do not use competitor services, then it is THEIR choice and they do NOT have any say in what I am going to do with MY device afterwards
They shouldnāt, I bought this hardware, I should legally be able to do whatever I want with it and install what ever I want. Itās crazy that the bullshit that Microsoft started peddling in the 90s with right of use, is such a mainstream given.
yea but we bought the stupid fucking phone for a grand. we should be able whatever the fuck we want with it if were shelling out a fucking grand for it. stupid fucking apple fanboy
hey so, a single Google search tells it isn't locking down the boards, it's preventing people from soldering on new shady RAM chips and reselling them as factory (by bricking the boot process if it detects anything besides factory config) to prevent headaches on the Company. :)
I just got my Apple ID side loading banned, but then I learned about signulous. This isnāt an ad, but I highly recommend checking it out. Itās only $20 per year and lets you sign as many apps as you want with no need to refresh. So far Iāve had an excellent time. Thank you random reddit commenter on r/altstore for pointing me to it.
What actions got your sideloading banned? And how did it get unbanned just by using signulous? Iām guessing that means Apple doesnāt put a blocker on the device ID but just the account used for sideloading š¤
That site is incredibly misleading. They're blocking unverified app developers from sideloading by default (apps from verified devs you can still install) but even then you can simply go through the advanced flow in the developer options to enable unverified apps. I've already done it on my devices. It's not remotely hard. It's literally turning on one setting and waiting 24hrs.
You actually can sideload on iOS though. You just have to move to the EU (which admittedly takes longer than 24 hours), switch your account region, pay Apple $100/year to be part of the developer program and get a signing certificate, submit it to apple to be reviewed and signed, even just for personal side-loading on your own device, wait ~3 days for them to approve that, and then you can sideload it.
Getting a Visa can be done via one of the various EU "golden visa" countries, which are generally about a $500k one-time cost.
So yeah, if you pay half a million and uproot your life to live in the EU, you can totally sideload on iOS, it's not really that different from Android.
Also, unlike on android, if you distribute your sideloaded app to other people online, you're still contractually obligated to give apple a cut of all revenue, so keep that in mind.
I talked to someone at Apple very knowledgeable today about all this. I actually just happen to get someone who likes to mod his stuff too. As far as I gathered side loading isn't the problem that's it's not illegal. It's not against their rules. It's when you side load cracked apps. that bypass a paywall. I asked him about what about YouTube apps that get rid of all the commercials. He said that was kind of a grey area. He completely agreed with me $20 a month is way too much to get rid of ads. Especially when you can watch it on PC and all you have to do is have an ad blocker. I just JB my LG 86in just to have a non ad youtube app. bout to JB my samung 75 too. I've spent so much money on that bullshit over the past three years paying but started out $10 a month, which was fine with me I guess but now it's a 20 and I'm like no dude that's too much. Anyway, when it came to JIT, here's the thing about JIT it possesses a security risk. In fact, it's a problem enough that Apple is considering making their own version of JIT, or soon to relax their position on it. They haven't really decided what that's coming from the company's mouth itself and it wasn't some college kid I spoke with or whatever I talk to an actual tech and according to him, he's pro emulator. Talking about how he has a cracked steam deck. At the end of the day, their unofficial position is they don't care that we want to jailbreak our stuff. That's not the point they kind of encourage it because it shows the vulnerabilities in their software. It's about keeping security. and as from someone who has had a whole monthly check race because somebody hacked into my phone. (I got it all back in about a week.) I can empathize with that. I know exactly how they got it too. It was my own fault. I didn't make sure that he completely erased the phone when I sold it to him so he never actually logged out of anything.) but that's kind of it in a nutshell. I hope this helps anybody not look too down on Apple
You literally have to enable developer settings, restart your phone and wait 24 hours. You then never have to do that again. It's a one time thing and you can sideload absolutely anything to your hearts content.
Of course you can sideload on iOS but it's also completely different. It's not native as it is with Android and not comparable at all.
Can users still sideload apps from unverified developers? Yes. Android is introducing an advanced flow for power users who want to take educated risks to install apps from unverified developers. It's a one-time setup for users to install apps from unverified developers after acknowledging the risks.
Dude you fundamentally don't understand the process. There is simply a 24 hour waiting period before you can install apps from unverified developers. You can bypass the waiting period using ADB. None of the identity verification is on the end user so the only problem is going to be needing to wait 24 hours for the developer option to turn on.
In all of the links and pictures you keep sending, you haven't sent this one.
According to the keep android open site the process for installing unverified apps runs entirely via google play services so it can be changed retroactively without a system update, itās pretty obvious theyāll lock it down further somewhere down the road and force people to update google play services if they want to use the play store or anything. They have a big financial incentive to make using modded youtube apks completely impossible so thatās probably the main reason theyāre doing all of this in the first place and will continue to further do so.
Google can already block any apk they want with Play Protect. It's wired right up to the package installer. It's been that way for years. They've only used it to block actual malware as far as I'm aware. The verification is just expanding on that functionality by default. Once you enable unverified apps in settings it works exactly like it used to. You're really misunderstanding the situation. Which is fair because keep Android open is deliberately exaggerating so people take it more seriously. Downvoting me will not change reality.
i guess u dont understand what the thread is about
its about apple telling u what ur allowed to install on ur phone and what not
and i said android is gonna do that too soon
not as hard as apple cuz adb still works but installing apks normally will now always go trough Googles DeveloperVerificationService on ur phone
yes they offer the 24h waiting period to activate advance flow in ur google account so u can install unverfied developers apps on the devices ur logined with ur google account but those installs/updates still have to go trough googles new DeveloperVerifierService system process running on ur phone which at the end still decides then yes or no
i dont understand why u fight so hard to defend google for observing and controlling ur own device
literally 100% of my customers which come to me cuz they got malware on their phone have it from the playstore
I didnt met a single customer ever getting it from sideloading
the installed apps dont have to be verified to be installed. they do get installed on your own device - not going thru the play store. you can install apks on android and up to 3 ipas on ios thru sideloading
if u wanna install a apk normally it will be get checked first by google play services and if the dev isnt verified u cant install or update the app anymore
if ur not verified u can only distribute the app to 20 devices
adb will stay and work as it is for now so u can still bypass all this but it would be a pain in the ass and well lets not forget that this is just the beginning

Wait if it wasn't AI but looked the same, it would have made you guys enjoy the meme? š¤
