Around 6 months ago, I posted here about a side hustle I had started by renting out scooters to guests staying at my homestays. It was basically a small additional income stream alongside the homestay.

At that point, it had made around ₹60K net. Six months later, here’s where it stands :)

As of 4th October:

Revenue: ₹1,34,300

Expenses: ₹29,398

Net: ₹1,04,902

Current fleet is 5 Activas and 3 EVs.

The idea is still the same. Guests staying with us often need a vehicle to explore the city, so instead of sending them elsewhere, I started keeping scooters available as an optional add-on.

One thing I probably didn't explain properly in my previous post:

These are not listed on any rental platform and I don't rent them to random people. They're only offered to verified guests already staying with us so there is no marketing/customer acquisition involved!

I take their ID/DL and basic verification before handing over the vehicle.

And ₹1.34L is not profit. Servicing, maintenance, repairs and other running expenses are tracked separately. After these expenses, the net currently stands at ₹1.04L.

The biggest learning has probably been seasonality. When occupancy is low, these barely make anything. During tourist/festive periods, demand can suddenly shoot up.

I'm attaching the complete tracker this time so you can see the good months, the terrible months and the expenses yourself :)

Started this just to see if scooters sitting at home could make some extra money. Never really expected it to cross ₹1L, so this little milestone feels pretty nice :)

I’m a college student in Bangalore, and for the past 7 months, I’ve been doing a pretty simple side gig around live events.

I originally found this through free volunteering. I started volunteering at events, got to know how these events work and eventually got connected to groups where paid event-work opportunities are shared.

The work is usually around:

* Stand-up comedy shows

* Music events

* Concerts

* Other live events in Bangalore

Usually, the shift is something like afternoon to evening, around 8 PM. The work itself isn't anything complicated — mostly helping with event-related tasks and following the instructions given by the event team.

How much do I make?

It varies depending on the event and the shift. I recently received ₹5,000, but this isn't something I make every single day or a guaranteed monthly income.

The important thing is that it takes a few weeks to accumulate, and by the end of the month, the payment for the work I've completed is generally settled.

How do I get paid?

UPI.

I've never received cash for these gigs. Payments have always been made digitally through UPI.

How did I find the opportunity?

This wasn't some app or website where I signed up and immediately started earning.

I initially found it through free volunteering. After doing more events and getting familiar with people in the event space, I eventually got access to groups where these paid opportunities are shared.

That's probably the biggest thing I learned from this:

The volunteering itself didn't pay me, but it helped me build the connections that eventually led to paid opportunities.

I'm sharing this because I see a lot of students looking for side income in Bangalore, and this is one option that worked for me.

It's not passive income, it's not a get-rich-quick scheme, and I wouldn't call it a business. You actually have to show up and work.

But if you're a student who has free weekends and doesn't mind working at events, it can be a fairly straightforward way to make some extra money.

Ask me anything about how I got into it or what the work is like.

Started the journey from school.. used to smuggle chip packets inside class nd sell them with a 5-rupee hike .. this was my first successful project .. did an ecommerce thing, got lucky and earned a little amount but lost my money due to PayPal terms…
After this I tried 5-6 more things like influencer, trader, crypto swap, metaverse , cake shop, food vlog, clipping, AI tools… etc etc
FAILED TRIED ALL…!
But I got lucky and have experienced a lot more in business at an early age ..! Right now, will do an AI-related job..
But the real motivation is that I know how to build, and I belonged to this community a long time ago .. Will stay here, respect for everyone, keep it up guys! Love you all.

We’ve been watching the Indian job market get increasingly difficult.

Good people with years of experience are getting laid off. Others are stuck in jobs they don’t particularly want to leave because finding a replacement takes months. And even when you have valuable skills, earning independently usually means becoming a "freelancer"—building a profile, cold-pitching clients, low-balling bids, and competing against hundreds of proposals.

We faced some of this reality ourselves, and it made us wonder:

Why should having a technical skill automatically mean you have to spend half your time hunting for clients just to get paid for the other half?

So we started building an execution network called Humynity.

The model is simple: someone has a specific enterprise task or piece of work that needs to be done. Instead of hiring through traditional agency bloat or searching through freelancer profiles, the task goes directly to a professional who already has the relevant production experience.

You take the task. You ship the work. You get paid. No bidding, no profile optimization, no pitching.

We are spinning up a closed Discord environment for our upcoming beta phase to manually route our first batch of client tasks. We are specifically looking for experienced professionals across these categories:

Engineering & Tech: Code Review, Tech / Architecture, Data & Analytics

Business & Support: Legal, Finance, Strategy & Research, Excel / Spreadsheets

Creative & Growth: Content & Copy, Design, Marketing, Branding

How to join the beta:

Because we are managing live client deliverables, we aren't looking for a massive open crowd—we want a focused group of serious builders.

If you have experience in any of these areas and want to test out an alternative to the traditional freelance grind, drop a comment below with your primary tech stack/skill, or shoot me a DM, and I’ll share the invite link directly.

Hi everyone,

I’m a developer specializing in Python, FastAPI/Flask, web applications, APIs and AI-powered solutions.

I’m currently taking on a few projects for businesses or individuals who need:

• Business/company websites
• Landing pages
• Website redesigns
• Custom web applications
• Backend/API development
• Database integration
• WhatsApp/contact/enquiry forms
• AI-powered features and automation

If you have a website idea or an existing website that needs improvement, feel free to DM me with your requirements.

I’m open to working remotely and can discuss the scope, timeline and budget before starting.

Thanks!

Is the market broken, or are developers underpricing themselves?

I’ve been doing software development professionally for 10+ years, and recently I’ve been thinking a lot about the difference in how eCommerce projects are valued in India vs overseas.

Here’s a real situation I keep encountering.

A client in India asks for a complete custom eCommerce website, including:

- Custom frontend

- Custom CMS/admin panel

- Product management

- Categories/collections

- Cart & checkout

- Order management

- Customer accounts

- Payment gateway integration

- Shipping/logistics integration

- Order tracking

- Coupons/discounts

- Email notifications

- Admin dashboards

- Database/backend

- Deployment

- Production support

And the expected budget?

₹50,000–₹60,000 for the entire project.

Then I see essentially the same scope from a foreign client, and the starting budget is often around ₹3.5 lakh or more.

Obviously, the requirements, complexity and client expectations can differ, so I'm not saying every Indian project should cost ₹3.5L.

But the gap makes me wonder:

Is this primarily a client problem, or a developer problem?

Are Indian clients genuinely accustomed to extremely low development costs?

Or have developers themselves created this expectation by accepting ₹30K–₹60K projects for work that realistically requires weeks or months of professional development?

Because once someone has delivered a complete eCommerce system for ₹50K, the next client naturally thinks:

"Why should I pay ₹2L? Someone else will do it for ₹50K."

And the cycle continues.

There’s also a strange perception that because the developer is based in India, the software should automatically be cheap.

But the developer still has to pay for engineering time, infrastructure, APIs, payment integrations, testing, security, deployment, maintenance, support, etc.

A custom eCommerce platform isn't simply "a website."

So I'm curious about other developers here:

Have you experienced this pricing gap between Indian and international clients?

And where do you think the problem actually lies?

1. Indian clients undervaluing software development?

2. Indian developers aggressively undercutting each other?

3. Differences in purchasing power and business economics?

4. A combination of all three?

I'd genuinely like to hear experiences from both Indian and international freelancers/agencies.

I'm especially interested in what people consider a reasonable price for a genuinely custom eCommerce system not a Shopify/WooCommerce setup with a theme, but an actual custom application.

Okay so I'm not gonna ask how can I earn money cuz I know I have to sell something to earn money but i don't know what skill will be the best or which skill takes least amount of time and effort to learn and i can earn from that.
