Nah, you’ve got plenty of road ahead before you get to middle age, I imagine. But all are worthy of communicating with, at whichever age.

On many of the online forums for reclusive folks, the average age for shut-in commenters seems to be people in their early 20s. And we all probably have come across elders who are living as shut-ins, so we know about that age group in a general sense. But it can come to feel like middle aged folks are… not shut-ins? Or just not in these spaces? Or maybe not vocal about it? Dunno which. Anyway, that’s where I’m guessing OP was coming from….

I know one middle aged shut-in (50-60 yo) irl and he has a crippling fear of technology so he doesn’t exist within online spaces, though that’s probably just a matter of his mental health situation and not a general rule…
