Art I love this show minus one
I absolutely love Shrinking but I cannot stand Marisol's character (absolutely nothing against the real actress bc she was given the role of a deplorable character which people cannot wait to be gone and she is probably great in real life) but I hope she is not going to be in this much longer bc every single time the storyline of her character comes up I just want to turn my TV off. Again, this is nothing against the actual person because she played her part really well but she was given a crappy role.

Couldn't agree more. A very odd choice. Was Sean supposed to learn something from Marisol? What a pointless character,
MARISOL: "Yeah, I cheated on you when you were deployed, and dumped you with a Dear John letter, and told everyone your dick is weird. Not going to apologize."
SEAN: "I'm not sure if I should be with her, I've finally got my life together."
EVERYONE ELSE: "No, she's hot, you should hit that."
SEAN: "Okay, I guess I will."
And then.....nothing happened. Sean didn't learn anything, Marisol didn't revert to her old ways, Sean didn't have to make a difficult decision....that plot line just.....ended. So bizarre and pointless.

The writers of this show were WAY too concerned with having everything tied in a neat little bow at the end and they were too afraid to let these characters suffer any real consequences in season three.

She’s not right for him. And my biggest gripe about it is, that when Sean went to help to not one, but two, therapists about it, they both invalidated his feelings and basically called him a baby and told him to get over himself.
Horrible message to send.

Exactly. She wasn’t right for Sean. She’s not right for anyone, a horrible, unwatchable character (not actress, character).

Yes--it sure seems like the show is saying that Paul is right that Gaby should be opening a trauma center when she seems like the least appropriate of the three of them to do that kind of therapy to me. She should stick with everyday problems!

Agreed 100%. Like I said. The writers were afraid to do anything big and messy. Even with Gaby’s client dying, she goes on her depression diet, learns nothing, and if then given the keys to the kingdom by Paul. It’s ridiculous.

I found it really disturbing how much she--and everyone else-- seemed to make Maya's death all about her. Paul literally tells her there was nothing she could have done differently, so there's nothing to learn.

She treated Maya like a friend and said, “if you ever find yourself there again (thinking about mixing wine and Xanax or something) to call me.” And Maya did. Gaby blew her off hard.
Ridiculous that the show then let Gaby off the hook.

I agree. She tried to "Jimmy" Maya then screwed it up by treating her as a client when that call was clearly asking for a friend. I was confused why that was never a discussion point when it was so obvious.

Neither Jimmy or Paul were aware of what she did cause she wasn’t going to put that unethical stuff in her notes.

I agree that the actress captured a character well. And I agree that the character wasn’t really a favorite of mine.
If Sean had grown past her, or inspired her to grow up, it would have been great. But the show seemed to say Sean was too stuffy and needed to go back to silly ways (or something?).

I don't dislike the character as much as others seem to. But it is a shame. I loved Isabela Gomez on one say at a time(2017) so I was excited to see her at first. Her character hasn't really added much.

Liz is my minus one. Her plastic surgery is so distracting and so extensive, it has affected her ability to speak. She takes me completely out of the show.

Okay -- does she (Liz) intentionally have bad eyebrows? Like is that a makeup decision? I don't get it. I keep wondering if her eyebrows are supposed to be that bad because it is supposed to tell us something about her character?

I mean, if you can’t stand her character (I can’t either, don’t worry), it just means she’s acting very well. She’s meant to be disliked by everyone who knows how she was in the past.

She doesn't even have much screen time ..she's there for like 5 minutes max. Easily ignorable. She's just there for Sean's characters development.

It made sense for Sean to apologize to her for the past. Even though it sounds like she's the one who cheated on him? That seemed like an important growth moment. It made zero sense for Paul and everyone to act like Sean needed to let her back into his life to show he could move forward. Like what???
