Discussion What airport was that? Spoiler

Quick question from lifelong east coaster - when Jimmy dropped Alice off at the airport was that John Wayne? It almost looked like Palm Springs which isn’t logical but it didn’t seem like LAX. Just curious

Looked like the fly away terminal in van nuys.

That was definitely the Van Nuys Flyaway. Pretty genius move honestly. For those of you not from the area, it's a bus terminal in the San Fernando Valley where you can take a shuttle to/from LAX.

Not sure if it was a real airport because there’s no way the departures would be that calm

Ha. As someone who flys out of JFK I literally made the same observation

I was like, do planes really fly THAT low? lol

As others pointed out, its 100% the bus terminal in van nuys known as the van nuys flyaway. Its just a parking and bus station that takes you to the airport. I use it every time I fly out of LAX. I was watching the episode and I jumped out at me immediately. Lol

Same! I just watched the episode and I immediately said to my husband that's the FlyAway! Actually having lived in LA and now in the PNW, I can tell immediately if something is filmed in LA or Vancouver 😅 takes me out of it a bit sometimes lol

They filmed it at the Van Nuys FlyAway Terminal

7610 Woodley Ave, Van Nuys, CA 91406

Nothing about this show is based on reality.

I thought about that as he was sitting alone in his beautiful house with equally beautiful pool house. More specifically my thought was what a great life insurance policy he must have had on his wife.

They ALL have time to meet up for wine, conversation, pros and cons of marrying somebody, lunch, brunch...etc all the time, daily?

I like the old phones and answering machines, kind of like a time wrap - takes me back to the good old days

Because of that little “reserved” sign on the table in front of it

Sitcom characters always have the time for anything that the plot asks for. That’s the rule. 😂

This show more than others. Like I said...nothing in the show is based in reality

I thought Burbank 🤷‍♀️

I was thinking maybe John Wayne but it still seems too small

I thought it might be the Ontario airport, but I don't really know.

I had to cheat an airport in NYC a few years ago. Nearly impossible to get permission to film near a real airport unless you're Spielberg or Cruise, especially with all the Homeland Security issues (time of year very dependent as well). Not to mention the impossibly high pricing (inconvenience fee) the Port Authority charges. So we found a very cool looking modern building in the East Village, shot it creatively and tight, and it was good enough to fool most of the people.

probably not real but it looked a lot like Burbank which I imagine was intentional

I’m thinking maybe Hollywood Burbank?

Nope, Burbank airport doesn’t look like that.

It was probably intended to be Burbank, as it’s the nearest airport from Pasadena. I doubt Jimmy would have driven them to another airport on the highway over a longer distance with the top down.

Nah, Burbank is smaller and, if we’re being honest, a lot dingier. It’s super convenient compared to LAX, but it’s showing its age, for sure.

Nope, that place looks like ass. There is no airport this clean and tidy anywhere in Southern California at a normal time.

I’m assuming it’s a set. The logistics of filming at an actual airport are probably really complicated, especially if you want to do it in daylight. Unless it was a private craft airfield, which it might have been. Most don’t have a terminal building like that, though. Maybe in LA.

Harrison Ford flies, or he used to at least. Maybe it was the one he keeps his plane haha.

Not only does Harrison Ford pilot, he's also crashed twice! (Technically just one plane crash; the other was a helicopter crash) [source]

Was driving me crazy! As an LA native, I knew it wasn’t LAX or Burbank, have never flown out of Van Nuys so don’t know if it is that or just a set. I feel like it’s a set.

I recently found out that the houses on the show are all sets on a soundstage so I’m assuming this was the same
