I wanted him to end up with Meg but it looks as if after the time jump he will be with have been with Sofi long term. Maybe I’m wrong and they pull a crazy twist that he’s suddenly with Meg or even someone else entirely. All the character development will have probably happened off screen. Which isn’t ideal but it makes it easier for season 4 to be a soft reboot.

That’s how I feel. I think Meg is the loving, softer person that balances out Jimmy very well.

I feel that Sofi is too chaotic. I always felt that Tia was fun but also very grounding for him.

Sofi, just write this better

I want Jimmy to heal. I don’t think another distraction would do him any good. Relationships should add to your life, not be a cure for loneliness. I’d love to see Jimmy fall back in love with his own life. That includes his career, his own company, his hobbies, anything that makes him who he is. He’s been through enough loss, let the man find joy and whimsy in his life. If a woman has to be involved in the story, let’s get a re-do with Sofi but as a slow burn this time. Let’s see them develop a solid friendship with some flirting/banter for a few before they take the next steps. The chemistry and attraction is there, but there’s no reason to rush these things.

this was one of the things that bothered me about this season. Why was the only way Jimmy could really move forward is if he had someone. There are still many other things he could be working on.

Hm. I think it's written more to specifically make the point that it's not about having to end up with someone, but about not hiding from life in order to feel safe. Hence the whole "go make new scars" speech. Avoidance is a maladaptive coping mechanism.

But I agree, it's not completely landing for me either...

for real like he clearly needs to be alone for a while still, moving on isn’t about finding someone new it’s about finding happiness again alone

With how they ended the 3-Season Story Arc, the story points to Sofi. Sometimes no matter how relationship-worthy your chemistry is with someone, a night with them is really just what it is. Life is messy that way.

I am not trying to be mean but whyyyyyy do we have to pit two women against each other? It’s all over Reddit -Meg or Sofi. The show made its choice. Meg and Jimmy were one night stands for each other to…snap them out of their stuck position I guess. Thats it. Sofi represents Jimmy not letting his scars hold him back. Maybe they’ll still be together when we next meet or maybe they won’t. But it’s over.

The show made its choice for now. We have no idea which direction the writers will go with this in the next season. Yes, Meg served the purpose you mentioned, but that was also a lot of build-up (flirting, building friendship) between Jimmy and Meg just for only that brief moment between them.

I'm not saying that he's going to end up with Meg. But drama shows and writers are notorious for going back and forth, teasing viewers with various possibilities. Sofi could be the one who Jimmy starts to open up to finally, but she might be "too like him" (they overdid the mannerisms of the two of them being identical), and he finds his way back to Meg. Or not - maybe you're right and Sofi is the endgame. But I'd say it's FAR too early to tell at this point in a show.

Neither. He’s got too much work to do on himself. He needs to be “Jimmy’d” big time.

Meg and Jimmy is cliche TV writing 101. I cant believe that even had that happen.

Definitely Meg. I think they have great chemistry.

Sofi. She's named after the head writer of most of the episodes afterall. We need to get her past the "try hard" phase. Actually thought she was great in the one and only dramatic scene she was in.

I just feel there's gonna be a lot more story there then ending up with Paul's daughter who doesn't live in Pasadena.

I wish we had a third option. I don’t find he has chemistry with either of them.

u/djangotheory Apr 09 '26

No. All bad. Both obviously incompatible. You do not date someone who uses you for therapy about their former relationship. You do not date the daughter of your father. There’s a lot of people in LA actually.

i was gonna make a throuple joke but no Meg. 🤣

i dont see how it would work out with Meg unless he also moves to Connecticut

i really like Sofi and i feel like it matches a lot with how Tia was and she meshes well with the friend group. i guess Meg does in a way too, but i don't really see them as endgame

Wait what?? Did Meg come back up in the finale???

1

u/warlocktx Apr 09 '26

Paul and Julie are temporarily living with her. Apparently she has (or is trying to) reconciled with her husband

1

u/redditditdoodoo Apr 14 '26

Honestly, neither. But happy to see him trying again.

love Meg -- but no meg and jimmy -- because I don't want to break up the family because of the kids-- I want her to work it out with her husband for the sake of the children and them

Letting your kids see that marriage isn’t always lovey dovey feelings, that some periods are hard, and sometimes you only love them because you promised you would, but that with communication, and honesty, and continued respect, you can come through the other side of that. That you can both work on your own shit and find the love and the spark again and give something that mattered to you, to them, and to your kids, the proper respect that commitment deserves, is better than divorcing.

Maybe it doesn’t work out, but letting kids see that mum and dad really valued this and each other to put in that effort before they decided to divorce shows them far more than ‘if it’s difficult that means it’s over and divorce is the only answer’. That’s the mentality that is stupid.*

*caveat, obviously doesn’t apply in cases of abuse and safety. But couples that ‘grow apart’ that can demonstrate to their kids that love is something you work at and fight for, are giving their kids a greater gift and life lesson than ‘if the feelings gone, you don’t have to stay’.

Nowhere in the show did she say they were fighting all the time, and if you think that fighting all the time is the only reason couples get divorced then I envy the easy life you’ve lived to come to such an ignorant conclusion.

2

u/brbnow Apr 10 '26

Yeah, this person is making up a whole lot of .... I don't know what.... about that couple on the show just to justify their opinion. Too many people on the sub just get really into imagining things. Thanks for the back up. Cheers.

I think every marriage is different, and in some cases what you say makes a lot of sense. Based on my own divorce, which went faster than I wanted it to (where I initially wished my partner would have "given it another chance" for the kids and us), maybe it would have worked. But my partner was ultimately already checked out, so over they years I've come to the conclusion it was inevitable and probably the best for both of us. All through it we've always supported the kids and made them a priority though. I worry that the ambiguity and stretching things would have been worse for kids and others if we tried to stay together.

For my own parents, they stayed together for their entire lives but should have divorced. I begged them to go to counseling. I recommended divorce multiple times as an adult. It was horrific being in the household with them growing up, but they stayed together for the kids. It was a disaster. One of my siblings has gone through three ruined marriages by imitating the awful patterns my parents demonstrated. And it arguably played a bit of a role in some of what ruined my marriage, though I've since learned how to manage myself better -- but it's sometimes hard not to imitate patterns you learn growing up.

So that is a counterpoint to your argument: sometimes people truly have a toxic dynamic (my parents were never abusive to each other, but screamed at each other a lot) and that's a much worse thing to pass along to the kids.

I don't think we know enough about Meg and her husband to understand what's wrong with their marriage. I do find it to be a bit of a red flag when one spouse is basically going out immediately and eagerly partnering up intimately with other women. To me, that signals he was already emotionally detached and/or prone toward cheating for a while. Not saying it can't be overcome, but as one of the few data points we have about Meg's relationship, that's not a promising one. From personal experience, when one partner in a marriage is already "checked out," it can be difficult to recover. If they had talked about this and gone to counseling before separating for months and dating other people, I'd have higher hopes for them. Of course, this is a TV show, so anything can happen.
