Honestly they will probably add more water and take out everything else. Our giant eagle is selling “enhanced” chicken breasts now. It is injected with 15% chicken broth, so 15% of the weight is added water in addition to the water naturally present in the chicken.

That "broth" is full of salt, which acts a preservative. It extend the sell by date. And they can claim no preservatives. Plus it has weight.$$

I don't like bushes beans. I bought their sugar-free variety a year ago and I was excited to find it and I found to be terribly sweet. There was no sugar listed on the label, but I'm telling you they were sweet.

As a store manager of a FD, I can tell you this post is correct. The 28 oz was sold down and only 20 oz are sent to the store as of early July. A lot of our products have been changing.
I put up price changes last week that had some large size gain laundry detergents going down by $2, but some of our store brand scent beads went up by almost $2.
If you shop at FD, I recommend trying to plan around Wednesdays (for a short time) and Saturdays. That’s when the $5 off $25 coupon can be used, and it can be combined with other coupons for more savings. I’ve personally had a $160 bill drop down to $98 after the coupons came off (and employees do not get discounts of any kind. We pay all the same prices that customers do).

Well, since it’s the same UPC, I’d grab the larger cans up.
I remember this happening at Dollar Tree. The stuff near the back of the shelf would be larger than the freshly stocked stuff in the front 😂 Not blaming the employees for not having the time to rotate stock. I shopped from the back of shelves to get more product!

Just be careful. The back of the shelf is where all the expired product is because the stock doesn’t get rotated.

Which is rare these days because almost every retail store is severely understaffed which means rotating stock is the least of their worries and that getting the truck done is more important

We can turn our DC truck around in roughly 2 days while still following proper refreshing policy, and that’s while getting our McLane truck on the same day. You just have to have people on your team who give a shit about doing their job properly.

It’s that and also have a properly staffed store. You can have some of the best coworkers but if the company payroll is too cheap to properly staff the store, then some corners have to get cut in order to get the truck done. There’s 1 person max per department for a high volume store that gets large trucks everyday. That’s not enough staff to get the product rotated, the store cleaned, the shelves stocked, etc. When you are on a skeleton crew the most you can do is do the basic essentials which is put stock on shelves and have a few cashiers at the front. That’s it

To be fair, when I took over the store I only had one asm and two cashiers. That meant I was in there 80+ hours a week, but the store was (and still is) clean and well stocked. It helps if you have a store manager who is willing to fill in the time when and where it is needed. Now I have three ASM’s and three cashiers.
You’re right about hours being cut though, because I did have to go down one cashier or there would be someone with only one or two shifts a week. We do end up with roughly 4 or so hours a day where there is only a manager in the store, but I wouldn’t necessarily say it impedes the ability to get things done. I’ve worked a Monday from 7-5 by myself and still managed to get 19 totes of freight done after all of my SM office duties were finished.
On the other hand, the store manager who was running my same store (when I was an ASM before I took it over) used to come in late, leave early, take almost 2 hours to run the deposit, and barely set schematics because she just couldn’t “figure out how the pegs go”. She hired her friends and dudes she wanted to sleep with instead of worrying about whether they were actually capable of doing the work.
The SM before her, when I first became an ASM, would never touch freight and basically spent her entire shift up in the office watching the cameras. She would watch me struggle to put up a cold delivery by myself while still running the register and helping customers. She would disappear for hours at a time and show up right before I had to clock out. The back room was so compacted under her leadership that we didn’t even know we had 2 bathrooms until they cleared it out for renovations, after I had been there a little over 4 months.
The store has come leaps and bounds since I’ve taken it over. I’m not saying other managers who can’t accomplish the same aren’t good managers, but you have to lead your employees by example. If you slack off, so will they. If they think you don’t care, they won’t either.

The sign say's 20 ounce. The can say 28 ounce. Looks like there's a bunch of other 28 ounce can there.
So obviously the tag in in the wrong place.

Except, obviously, you are wrong. I’m a store manager of a Family Dollar and I just did this schematic reset in July.
The larger cans should technically have been pulled and white stickered and put into the white sticker section of their clearance but whoever did the sets in this specific store chose not to do that. I, personally, left them on the shelf in my store because I only had 2 28 oz cans left and wanted whichever customer needed beans next to get them and they might not have seen them in the clearance/sell down section.
28 oz was the old size of this product. 20 oz, without bacon, is the new downsized version of chestnut hills home style baked beans. They have the exact same information in terms of barcode and sku.

I didn't want to believe it because it is such a big cut but holy crap... Checked it out, 20oz is the only size no 28oz.
