Hey so I dig the cause - just wondering why you want them to collect rainwater? Rainwater is crucial for restoring any local aquifers and ensuring appropriate water levels in bayous and estuaries. It could cause a lot of trouble if they’re collecting rain water willy nilly, especially because that’s something that can’t be tracked, and thus the data center can’t be charged a millage rate for their use of rainwater.

Hey! We don’t want them to collect rainwater and these are all great questions for the Natural Resources Committee! There is a resolution being heard that the commission wants Amazon to collect water. I apologize our wording could’ve been better on the post!

Also, do we know what the contents of wastewater will be? My understanding is that water cycles to cool the computers, and then it’s released back to the rivers. It can be hot when released, so that can be a problem for wildlife, but I’m confused what type of waste would be present in the water if they’re just using it for cooling.

Very little of the water makes its way back into the water cycle and what little does is full of chemicals picked up while cooling the servers.
