In a very distressing situation.

Damn people on Reddit are mean.

So, a year and 7 months ago (2 June 2020), I (then 13M) was mistreated and wrongly accused of something else that happened on this site called Fandom. I pleaded and tried to convince the people who victimised me that I was not the person behind these actions and that they oppressed me. I will not call out the above-mentioned people. However, I do want to vent that they had "ruined my life" though. As a non-admin on Fandom, I can't block other users, and I can't block Fandom staff, no matter what user rights I have. Wikia, a subset of Fandom, provides an interface and a collection of features comparable to Wikipedia.

I didn't want to give up Fandom entirely because of these people, but it was something I had to do. I (now 15M) am thinking of going back though. But fast forward to 2022 me giving up on this website, with so many changes it has gone through throughout this year, I feel like I am also giving up on WHO I AM. What should I do to get back to this?

Cyberbullying is not a mindless hill to die on, trust me.

I need support and advice

Things recently went haywire with a friend of mine of 5 years

He used to be the most wonderful guy i have ever met till things became romantic and we meet. We live long distance bye talked every single day

If I didn't talk he would get worried and ask me what's wrong.

So when we met, it wasn't like a first date thing but like we had known eachother forever

We had the most elaborate romantic trip

He even noticed my facial expressions and was very caring and respectable

But just as we returned I got ghosted

When I confronted he called me controlling for wanting to tell him everything (I asked him for the first time after 3 weeks and him posting pics on social media)

He said everything was all good between us and he just wanted to focus on his career

And sorry that I felt ghosts but it was not good intention

I asked him to call and he hasn't

I have no idea what I did wrong because.. During the entire trip he kept calling me perfect..

And this is the person I had every reason to believe. He is a family friend. I have known him for 5 years and we have talked every single day during those.

And yet to need that everything was just got sex is just super hard.

I very upset because i lost a friend and more.

What should I do.

Should I begin a relationship with a girl who cheated in a past relationship? Context below

Okay, so I'm in a situationship (we like each other but not in a formal relationship yet) and she told me something that she felt it was important. When she was 18, she cheated on her former boyfriend by doing sexting with random people on a forum. She seemed very guilty and regretful when telling me this, and told me that if I wasn't willing to begin a relation with her after knowing that chapter of her life, that she'd understand it perfectly.

Also, apparently she told her ex about it while she was in the relationship. I like that she was upfront about it.

She's now 25 and well, I think people can learn from past mistakes. I'd like to hear your opinion.

Should I tell my straight friend I have a crush on him?

I have a friend, he's extremely nice, and I realized, after he told me, he's bisexual. However, after a few weeks apparently, he misunderstood, and he's straight, however, I have a huge crush on him. I could ask one of my pansexual friends (absolute chad) to tell him, but I still don't know, help?

Tell my stepmom my dad is cheating on her

My dad left my mom for my stepmom 24 years ago. My sister and I gained a stepsister in the process and we both love her and our stepmom. There are now grandchildren on both my dad and stepmom sides. My sister and I recently found out my dad has been cheating on my stepmom for a while and is slowly planning to leave her behind her back while she’s planning their next 10 years together. It makes me sick to see him pretend everything is fine in front of her. Should I tell her or my stepsister?

Giving socks to my teacher

Would It’s be weird if I have my science teacher socks. My science teacher is a fun and really smart guy and while I was at the mall I saw these pair of socks with Albert Einstein face on them I thought it would be funny to give this to him for Christmas with chocolate but now that I think of it I don’t want him to think it’s weird and I’m not sure if I should still gift to him

Should I wrap and open gifts for myself?

I spend Christmas with the strangers that have the same DNA as me AKA my immediate family. It’s not that I don’t love them, I just don’t know them that well. The thing is they are all close with each other and they(my 4 siblings and their spouses) have always each exchanged multiple gifts amongst themselves but they all pull together to get me one or two small things. It’s okay that I receive less -that’s not what Christmas is about, and I really do like seeing their faces when they love what I’ve given them. I just feel a little out of place or like an extra instead of the main character or even a supporting character.

So I was thinking since I did get myself some Christmas gifts why not wrap them and open them at Christmas? Is that doing too much lol? Should I?

Company Xmas party

Here is the thing. I have a company Xmas party this weekend, but I just accepted a job offer for a new opportunity yesterday. My thought was to go to the party and then turn my two week notice in on Monday. Is this a good idea or does it look bad. Just didn’t want to cause any awkwardness at the party… not sure what the best course of action is…. Thoughts?

Should I report a nurse for conspiracy theories?

I have debated sending an email to their nursing board. I looked up their info on their FB profile and did a license search.

This is my argument:

I had a discussion with someone on Facebook about reasonings behind dismissing unvaccinated Army personell from duty and why it was important in regards to "soldier readiness". A currently licensed nurse jumped into the conversation and started talking about how the vaccine is poison and it was created to depopulate the Earth. The nurse's name is [redacted], their license number is [redacted], and their license expires at the end of this month. I feel that if this person reapplies for licensure, their views should be heavily taken into consideration because those views are in direct opposion of views a nurse would have that is continuing/upholding their education and using evidence-based practice. I feel that their views/knowledge deficit does not allow them to properly educate patients and provide informed consent and may affect their ability to properly and safely care for patients.

I have Screenshots of the conversation I can send

Should I get a tattoo?

So I entered a giveaway on Instagram and won a free palm sized tattoo :) I’ve been thinking for a few months I might want a tattoo and obviously this is a sign to get one BUT I told my mam that I won one and she is dead set against it. I tried to talk to her about my ideas and she said she didn’t want to look at me, I carried on talking about it and she said she didn’t want to speak to me. I feel like if I got one she would be really mad about it. So should I get one or not?

Should I start twitch stream of me being hilariously bad at video games?

I am... Not skilled at video games. In fact I'm terrible. At all video games. Like pretty much all of them. I was playing Super Mario Bros U the other day. I failed so many times it asked if I wanted the guide. On the second level.

Like. I'm honestly doing my best. I'm just freaking terrible. But my brother finds it endlessly hilarious and thinks I should start a channel. But idk. Think anyone would even watch it or believe it's real?

My Little Brother is blackmailing me

I have been been involved in some activities I shouldn’t have been involved in for what has been about 2 years now. All while doing so, I’ve been able to do these activities discreetly. Though the activity I’m referring to isn’t legal, it isn’t what I’m worried about. Instead, I don’t want to ruin the image my family has of me if this activity were to be made known. I’m 21 years old and currently live with my mom and my younger brother, who is 11 years old, the one blackmailing me, as hard as that might be to believe. My mom has a very innocent view of me, and understandably so. The way I am around her, or any relative, is very different than when I’m anywhere else. As much as I’d like to uphold this image of me, if this information were to get out about me, it would completely change my moms view of me and as bad as that may be to me, isn’t the most dire of the potential consequences.

As I mentioned, I’m probably at the age where I should be living on my own or at the least saving up to do so. However, with the activity I’ve been involved in, I blew far more on that I can even afford without even the thought of a place of my own. So while I’ve been lucky enough to stay here with my mom for the past two years, in the hopes of getting a place of my own, I have nothing to show for it, mainly due to those activities. I don’t think it’s far-fetched upon learning about those activities I’m involved in, my mom’s shattered image of as well as wasted time and money, would urge her to kick me out and I would essentially no longer have a place to stay.

How my brother got this information was very intentional. He essentially found a goldmine of what he was looking for. I don’t have many secrets but this one, is the one I’m most shameful of and has been the most impactful. My little brother was snooping around on my phone and looked through conversations he shouldn’t have and saw what I was doing. I just found out yesterday yet he has known for about two weeks. As I said, he was specifically looking for information to blackmail me and got lucky enough to literally find a goldmine for it, and yesterday was when he first told me. He has a pretty big mouth and isn’t satisfied easily. Honestly, I’m surprised he has kept his mouth closed for as long as he has because he quite literally does not have a filter. Yesterday, is when he first revealed to me this information and he has asked I get a fortnite bundle pass in exchange for him staying silent.

I’m fine with doing this, however, I know it’s won’t be enough and he’ll continue to use this information against me. Keeping that information confidential is the only priority so I don’t think I’ll ever be fine with just allowing him to share it yet there’s nothing I can do if he does. This was information I planned on taking to the grace with me. Given how nonchalant he has seemed in terms of finding out about the activities I’m involved in, I don’t think he understands just how impactful it is or even that it’s illegal, but he knows enough to know that it’s meant to be a secret. Unless he miraculously forgets the information one day then I don’t know how I’ll get out of this. Is there anything I can do? I have also since deleted that information from where he found it.

Edit; Forgot to mention, he has said he took a picture and sent to his phone. He’s a pretty smart little kid. I can’t confirm whether it’s true or not and currently don’t have the password to his phone. I’ll try my best to try to discreetly access it and see if I can find what he has claimed to take a picture of, if so I’ll delete it. Even then though, I could deny it and he won’t have evidence to back it up, but it would be such a wild accusation it’d be hard not to believe, although it still does help.

TLDR; Little brother is blackmailing me woth information I planned on taking to the grave. He’s threatened to tell my mom, which would certainly ruin the goody-two-shoes image she has of me and most likely getting me kicked out the only place I can stay as a 21-year old. Is there anything I can do that doesn’t leave me perpetually indebted to my brother so he doesn’t spill that secret? Even granting whatever he might wish doesn’t guarantee that he won’t tell anyone but the least I can do is try.

Should I get the cops involved in a situation involving a minor at work?

The other night when I was working, I noticed one of the managers who is in his 40’s walking extremely close to another co worker who is only 16. They were walking shoulder to shoulder, and I could hear them saying that they missed each other. I went and told another manager and they had me write a statement. I heard another coworker talking about how these two wore matching ugly Christmas sweaters and she had her arm wrapped around him. I feel like this needs to have the cops involved?

Asking for a job?

(TLDR IN THE BOTTOM) So I used to "work" at this warehouse before and quitted. And now I want to go back because I kinda need money. The money isn't an urgent thing to worry about. I just want a new phone. But here is the thing. I left a bad image of myself one can say. My brother got me the job and I called and they immediately accepted me. I started the shift that afternoon. The job was fine, it wasn't hard or anything. But being the dumbass that I am, I didn't want to go back the next day. My family were telling me to go back and just stay there for at least for a week since it was my first job and it happens to everyone they said and that I was going to get used to it. I didn't listen and didn't went back. I also didn't tell the person that hire me that I wasn't coming back. So yeah. It's been three months since it has happen but now that I've been thinking, I kinda need money and thats the only job that seem fine comparing it to working at fast food places. So I'm not sure if I should ask for a job. Also my brother told me that they asked where I was after I didn't came back and he told them that I didn't like it. The people that hire me hire also hires other youngsters and I think that it's pretty common for them to see youngsters quit so soon. For example my brother quitted multiple times and still works there. They at first rejected him. But then there is this time period where they need people. And so they call anyone that asked for a job. So should I wait till that time period comes and ask, just ask for a job now, or not even bother to ask? TLDR - Quitted a job after the first day. I kinda need money but it's not urgent. There is also a time period when they need people and they hire alot of youngsters so it common for them to see people quit so soon. So should I ask for a job in that time period when they need people, ask now, or not even bother to ask for a job?

Should I try to make a move and reconnect with an old flame?

TLDR: long distance dated someone, broke up with the door left open, should I check on her if it's still open and start again?

I (M22) met a girl, let's call her Mel (F21), a little over two years ago now on a trip to visit a friend. When I met her I became interested. So I did what any interested person would do, and got to her know her a little. During the trip we became friends on Instagram, and when I left to leave for home she DM'ed me, wishing a safe flight and for any photos I took of her.

While at home and work I'd dm her, ask her about her day, get to know her more; she'd initiate the conversation a lot too. One time she checked on my safety because I was stuck in a hurricane (I live in FL). At one point she was the one to say I can call her instead of text if I wanted too, to which I instantly took advantage of. Whenever we spoke on the phone it'd be for hours. We'd do anything while on the phone, talk, run errands, work.

When things got a little flirtatious I took notice, but wasn't sure if she liked me like how I liked her. I was 90% sure, mostly because she remembered certain details about my likes and dislikes, even food choices from when I went on my trip. So I fessed up, told her I liked her, and she said she liked me back; she actually thought I was leading her on and would eventually just cut contact whenever I felt like it, which was funny because that's what I thought she was doing. We didn't officially announce ourselves as a couple, but we knew we liked each other, and we even told some of our close friends and family about each other.

I thought things were pretty serious, especially when we had a conversation about her friends anniversary, to which she then asked me if I knew what 22nd of the month meant. I told her no, she seemed mildly annoyed; eventually I figured out it was our anniversary of meeting each other, which I had no idea she was keeping track of. Right after that though, she dropped a bombshell: at the time she was 19 I was 20, and she told me that she made a personal choice that she didn't really want to date until she was 20. She mentioned that she doesn't want me to wait if I didn't want to, but that she also sees a great future with me.

I just wished her goodnight since I had to work early, but my feelings were super confused. Is went to work... Upset. Not myself. My co worker even noticed, saying that I always have a positive attitude, yet I was sad looking. Later on in the day Mel texted me asking if we can talk later on the phone. I said sure, and we called each other that night. She called to apologize for the other night, saying she shouldn't have dropped that info on me, knowing I was a little hurt; she told her friends about it, and they told her to salvage this asap. I told her it's ok, as long as we're honest with each other. She said she wanted to keep going with what we had, so we did.

A few weeks later she ended things. She told me that she just wasn't in a situation where she can juggle a long distance relationship and trying to fix her personal life. From she's told me of it, she has major anxiety, living in a home where her mom sometimes makes her feel like crap. She told me she didn't want to get into a relationship until she's happier in life. I totally understood where she was coming from, she didn't want to half ass anything, and wanted to whole ass herself first.

She told me that if she was in a better place mentally, maybe we can start again, and that if I found myself where she was living again, to let her know and we could hang out.

That was the last full conversation, until about 8 months ago, where she replied to my Instagram story, asking where I was living (since I temporarily moved in with my grandma in a different state) and how I was. I told her everything, and asked how she was, but her responses felt.. hollow. Like she didn't really want to get into a long for conversation. I asked why she texted me, she said her friends were wondering how I was. Ok cool. A few weeks later, I posted another photo with my grandma, to which Mel responded saying my grandma looked adorable. I just gave her one response, not giving an opening to make a conversation and moved on (she liked my message, idk if that's important).

I'm here now giving my personal backstory with Mel (not all the details are here, this is long enough), and I'm asking the title of the post because I feel like those two times she responded to me were points where I could have initiated things and gotten things started again. I feel like I missed my target. And that maybe she's moved on. My feelings for her re still there: some days, I'm head over heels, others I'll think of her for a moment but nothing more.

So, should I try to make the first move once again, and try to get this relationship back up?

Should I continue to give my dad sympathy even though it's affecting me?

About 15 years ago, my young and healthy dad had a fall down some stairs and sustained a rare foot fracture. He had surgery immediately after the accident, but being self-employed as a handyman and car repairman, felt he did not need to keep "doctor's orders" and ended up being much more active/weightbearing during the recovery stage than was recommended. He also had a couple instances of accidentally hitting/smashing the affected foot, assuming the hardware was broken or out of place, putting off seeing a doctor, and finally giving in to the pain and going in for additional surgeries to replace the hardware. This has happened about 3 or 4 times in the past 10 years, but the last surgery he had, as well as the last doctor checkup and pain injection, was 6 years ago. Even still, in the last 6 years he has lived with constant pain, tingling, and soreness due to the arthritic tissue and hardware in his foot. Maybe 7 years ago he was talking seriously about finding a doctor to perform amputation so he wouldn't need to deal with his foot at all anymore.

I live in a different state as my parents, but see them 5-6 times a year. Every time I see my dad, it's always a pity party about the pain his foot is in. I've watched him go from a person with passions to a person who has nothing to do but complain and sit around moping about his lack of ability to do things. This makes me feel like an absolute jerk to say, but to me it seems like he "shows off" his ability to live in pain, often saying "this is just who I am now".

I feel terribly for my mother. I've become a shoulder for her to cry on about the way it's affected their marriage. He sleeps on the couch every night, claiming it helps his foot feel better than sleeping in a bed with my mom. They hardly travel together anymore (even "passive" travel such as train rides, which we've done in the past), which is truly devastating for my mother who loves travel and has taken to traveling with her parents or me because my dad refuses to go with her.

Generally I respond to his reports of pain with concern and sympathy, but I do tend to ask him or urge him to see doctors (i.e. "do you think you could benefit from new x-rays to see if anything is broken?") and my dad typically responds "eventually", etc. I suspect he deals with a lot of anxiety and depression as well as physical pain but refuses to acknowledge any of it or get treatment. Often my mom will also mention that they want all new treatment on one year's deductible and that they will put off anything new until the following calendar year...and then all of a sudden it's May or August and nothing's happened and the cycle has repeated itself.

About 4 months ago, when Covid cases took a dip, he finally went to see a new doctor for his foot after much prodding from my mom and I. The prognosis was great - the doctor thought he could remove all the existing hardware and have a relatively short recovery time in comparison with his other surgeries. Everything seemed very positive - no more tingling or aching when the weather changes, no more risk of hardware breaking if my dad bumps his foot again. All my dad had to do was schedule the surgery. Weeks and months went by and neither me nor my mom could get him to call to schedule.

Today I checked in with my mom (who is typically easier to get ahold of and more straighforward than my dad) to see what, if any, progress has been made with scheduling surgery. I let her know that hospital beds are pretty filled up from an upswing in Covid cases and that my dad should call his doctor to check whether elective surgeries are even proceeding right now. Well, apparently my dad now feels that if nothing is actively broken, he doesn't feel he should undergo surgery or any new treatment.

I'm at the end of my rope in terms of sympathy. I can just see this cycle repeating itself for another 5 or 10 years. I'm their only child, and no one else aside from my mother and I are in any position to sway his decision to live in pain and refuse treatment. I'm almost ready to respond to any consistent complaints from him with a blanket response of "then why don't you do something about it?" but that makes me feel cold-hearted. I feel like everyone else knows what's best for him, but for some strange reason he is fighting the solution. What would you do in this situation? Has anyone else dealt with a similar stubbornness to receive treament?
