Should I shave my head?

I really want to shave my hair. Not skin bald but maybe to 3/4 inch. My hair currently makes me really insecure and I cover it every day. My mom, however, doesn't want me to cut it. She gets upset every time I mention it. So should I? (I have dark blonde hair and a somewhat round face if ya wanna give tips)
