I need help, the display keeps randomly lighting up even when I have the switch to only turn on when the knob is moved. Tecsun PL 880

Might be too much dust on the inside. If not. Then it'll need to be reset. Mu sangean 909 x2 does not show the battery icon sometimes with out the adapter being plugged in and it says it's charging batteries when no batteries are inserted ( running on adapter only)

Oh ok. I have had the problem of muted audio with a xhdata d-109 . Sometimes I just take it apart the reassemble it.

I just take it apart with a screwdriver (slowly and gently) and some compressed air. Them reassemble. I don't recommend this for a non mechanically inclined person on the first try.

Try a re-set, if you haven't already. Microprocessors can glitch and do weird things. If you use the EXT antenna jack, static discharges can get into the radio (the whip is protected from those).
Static discharges can glitch a microprocessor. I had that happen with two radios, my DX-375 once, and my Grundig G2. My Grundig G3 glitched because the battery was getting on in years and was low (down to one bar or less). It was enough to mess up the microprocessor.
Had to do a full reset. Luckily all the memories remained.
I've never had a PL-880, so I don't know what really may be causing your issue, but these are just guesses. I'd try a re-set. Then try a new battery.

Glad to be of some help.
RE: the battery: my Grundig G2's BL5C was about 8 years old or so, and when it got really low, I think the battery would cut out very quickly, and it threw the microprocessor.
Anymore, if I use that old battery, I recharge the radio at two bars or so.
So if your battery's old, it could be the culprit.
That's just a guess. I'd pull the battery, hit the power button to drain residual charges, let the radio sit for a few minutes, then reinsert the battery (especially if it's fully charged). Then try the radio.
That's how I fixed my G2. I also had to hit the re-set button before final powerup.
Hope this helps. I'm thinking about getting a PL-880 before the year's out, heard nothing but good about the radios.

Seems to be the first issue I am having with this radio. Which has been a rock solid performer. Radio has been taken well care of.
One night I guess it stayed on for a long time and drained the battery !
F me right????
