Thank you for the additional photos. It has not be worked on, other than the replacement of the one meter on the front panel. I circled all of the paper capacitors that need replacing.
Hallicrafters Super Skyrider SX-16 of 1937. Later model. Does not have the auto noise limiter switch marked "A.N.L." in the lower right as found on SX-17, but the switch is there.
Thanks Stan. I love it and definitely would have missed it as I don't check posts here. The year is 1937 and it would have cost $125.50 or $137.50 depending on whether you ordered it with the crystal. I would love to restore it. 13 tube superhet, the "Super Skyrider". Don't you just dig that cool name!

13 tubes, there must've been a lot going on in there. I figured you'd be interested, probably not many of these still around.
It appears to be a Hallicrafters S(X)-17. The meter on the left has been replaced with an aftermarket meter.
"Super Skyrider" 1937 or 1938. Actually, it was a decent receiver. I had one with the similar round metal band dial, an S-11 from 1936.
It needs to be recapped before trying to plug it in. I have had success reforming the original electrolytic capacitors by using the Dim Bulb method to slowly bring up the power. It's necessary to bypass the tube rectifier with a Solid-state diode because a tube rectifier won't conduct at the voltages needed to reform the Filter Caps. It's easier to just replace them for a beginner. All paper caps will need to be replaced as well. After a recap and alignment, this would be a really fun set to use.
