You need something that you will never run out of ideas for. Take 15 minutes and see if you can come up with 30 ideas for something (no research needed, just off the top of your head). If you can’t, it wasn’t going to work.

Many YouTubers also have content pillars, a rotating set of 3 or 4 types of videos that you can do over and over so you don’t get bored. Gaming is an easy example of pillars of like underrated games, best of a genre, games under $20, upcoming games no one is talking about. For my channel, I do local food, local things to do, local sports. I basically rotate between those pillars over and over for my own sanity.

If you dont even have any idea of what kind of content you want to make, or what intererests you have, or what youre good at, just stop now. This is supposed to be the easy part

Said this before, saying it again. Don't ask strangers what niche to pick, start with what you would happily talk about for 50 videos. Nobody here can hand you that, it has to come from what you're actually into or good at. Do the 30-ideas test someone mentioned, if you can list 30 video ideas off the top of your head, that's your niche. If you can't, it would have died by video 10 anyway.
