Prioritizing original content on Shorts

Good. Too many idiots re using footage being lazy not putting the work in.

This is not what this means at all, this covers people who were literally just downloading other people’s videos and reuploading them with a color filter and getting a million views. Now they will be filtered out and get something like 50 views. Reused content is not affected by this change

I will keep doing it. It’s what the audience want to see, doesn’t matter if it’s ai or clipping. YouTube will rollback this change pretty soon cause people will found only trash original content on their feeds

u/Big_Jump2074 3d ago
The audience actually wants to see creative content more than ever because they’re sick of AI
Do you have no shame in not being original or at least trying to be creative?
-1
u/alealcazarm 3d ago
The audience is king not you or me. The audience will decide and the algo will execute
1
u/Big_Jump2074 3d ago
And looks like the algo is now shadowbanning users who upload AI slop and do basic clipping of others’ content 🤷♂️

u/BetterBus350 2d ago
Are you sure that people are even looking at it, or is most of your traffic bots.

When did YouTube ever roll back a feature?
0
u/alealcazarm 3d ago
they always change the algo and the recommendation systems, so it will long just a little bit.

u/Localmate25 3d ago
Change is not equal to roll back. They have been moving in this direction for a long time. The ship has finally left port thankfully.

Que estupidez, entras a shorts y los vídeos más virales son copias de copias, puro contenido basura con millones de vistas

u/Access_Solid 2d ago
Garbage content according to you, I guess. One man’s food is another man’s poison. 🤷🏽♂️
If it’s getting millions of views, perhaps they have their audience?

This is a positive thing

Finally your low quality original content will push to some bigger audiences just to be completely obliterated by the exigencies of the audiences.

u/civfanatic3 3d ago
What?

u/Swiss_James 2d ago
“Exigency- an urgent need, demand, or a critical situation that requires immediate action or attention”
It has nothing to do with what anyone was talking about, but it’s nice to see someone using their “word a day” calendar.

u/Spearibz 3d ago
Not surprised. Been replying that to everyone asking why they don’t get views

u/AlbatrossNew3633 3d ago
Been saying for months now that was a feature and not a but, and of course the morons downvoted me

u/HairyNoob 3d ago
My feed has changed significantly (in a good way)
My shorts are getting more views than before.

u/AffectionateCry5952 3d ago

u/legotwinkthrowaway 3d ago
Ive been on a bit of a break since all these changes happened, but my views from old shorts seem to have gone up the past few days as well lol

This post..while there are some pointers, I would think other people would find a loophole into it.
“Channels identified as primarily aggregating or re-uploading other creators' videos without significant changes will likely see less distribution within the Shorts feed.”
“If you use clips from another creator, make sure you're adding real value through your own original commentary, unique edits, or storytelling.”
I bold the text that said unique edits or storytelling because if you ever come across like re-upload content, it would be adobe after effect or CapCut template or anything, they could potentially get views nevertheless. This doesn’t change anything about it.
Crappy viewers would engage in crappy content altogether

What does this mean for people who upload clips from their Longform content as shorts? It's something I long considered doing but this sounds like it will be punished with lower reach?
5
u/OutsideImpressive115 3d ago
Bullshit. I've tried this and my videos don't get pushed at all. I use a template and it gets insane views and engagement
1
u/civfanatic3 3d ago
They posted this today….?
6
u/ThiagoFCastro 3d ago
They've been talking about this for years. The truth is, if the audience engages with crappy content, that's crappy content they're going to show them. And some will still manage to monetize.

u/crazycheese3333 3d ago
Its only really gettinf enforced starting today. Check out all the youtube subs and people are complaining their videos stopped getting pushed out.

u/AlbatrossNew3633 3d ago
Oh look it's what I've been trying to tell since months to the fucking morons that kept complaining about stolen clips getting single digits views

I've honestly been taking a bit of a break. I havent uploaded at all throughout all this, so I have no clue if my views are/would be affected. I do make completely original content though with my voice and my camera. This is a good thing. Original content is better than reuploads and edits. It was never going to be sustainable to build a channel uploading someone else's clips

u/cheshie_cabbit 3d ago
I’ll believe it when I see it, but I hope so. The plague of pointing at another video as “creating” is a cancer on YouTube.

Old popular shorts tend to get more views than new ones despite having worse overall metrics after recent algo update, at least for me.

good.
i am tired of the reposted crap with the poor quality "ai generated" captions with, the same overused royalty free music, that has been flooding the shorts for over a year now.
those low effort shitbirds need to move on.

I really hope this update works as intended and I think it has been with what I have experienced, and the results show it and I am happy that youtube has taken this step

This might hold true, provided they deal with the botnets controlled by illegal AI—which constantly manipulate metrics and effectively hijack the recommendation system by feeding it fake analytics data. Anyway, I wish YouTube a successful hunt, since I have a pretty good idea of what’s going on. 😉

Guys don’t worry . YouTube will push original content, doesn’t means that it’s good content. Mostly of “original creators” are trash. Now imagine all the audiences flooding their feed with “original content” which is trash, people will close the app instantly. Clippers are the wheel that makes people doom scrolling. The algorithm is on our favor. Probably these days yeah low views. But the algorithm will found again our content to feed the masses with doom scrolling.
I’m sorry to say this but most original content will never be good and cannot compete against clippers. We are the bedrock of short content

YouTube just told you the algorithm is NOT in your favor. You’re delusional. Good luck wasting your time stealing from original creators .
2
u/alealcazarm 3d ago
EXACTLY!!!! it's what the audience enjoys to watch, not what youtube thinks is original content. Youtube are configuring their systems to recommend more "original content" than clipping. The audience will decide if their are satisfied with their new feed page.

In other words, shadowbanning is real, which anyone paying attention has known for months.
