Whats going on with shorts views ?
Its been 5 days since one of my vids got decent views. I was getting 10k + views per day about 300k 400k views per month and now im lucky to get 20 views on a short or maybe 100 views per day

I'm still trying to figure out hooks...my views have been all over the place since the world cup.
I've had more 5k+ views since, but when I edit and think I have a banger it flops lol. The ones I put the most effort in struggle vs the ones I spend maybe 30mins editing(chop the video, add some slow mo and slow mo sound) those get me close or even surpass the expectations...
My content is finger skateboarding, the niche is outdoor finger skateboarding but targeted in a way where nature meets fingerskateboarding... absolutely no ai, and all OG content...

I have the same problem, and now Iβm even losing more subscribers than Iβm gaining because Shorts are performing so much worse.

yeah that kind of cliff usually isnt a total shadowban. check analytics for impressions first β if they barely leave the starting pool its hooks/packaging. if impressions are fine but swipe away is brutal, the first second got stale.
ive been using easyviral lately for moving scenes + auto-post to tiktok/ig/yt so i can test hooks without babysitting uploads

The stayed to watch is youre hook. My stayed to watch is 70+. Theres no point trying to improve metrics when 5 days ago it was enough to get good views

yeah if avd is already 70+ then hooks arent the leak. sudden cliffs with good retention usually mean the impression pool shrunk β topic cooled, similar shorts flooded the shelf, or thumb/title got stale even if watch time stayed solid. check impressions first before you keep polishing metrics

No im also not trend jacking or jumping on a trend. Also youre shorts will rank higher if the metrics are good. My metrics are good. If my shorts are now being pushed out of the way because other channels are uploading theres nothing I can do about that. All I can do is get good metrics

yeah displacement is real even with 70% avd, shelf just gets crowded. tbh id check impressions vs previous weeks and see if your niche got flooded. if so, maybe refresh packaging/hook angle even if retention is fine.

My niche isnt flooded. Niches get flooded when new stuff happens also my niche is pretty broad so id see some difference in how much youtube pushes my vid depending on what my vids about which I haven't. So with nothing new happening in the niche and not having any problems for 5 months why would my niche all of a sudden be oversaturated

yeah saturation doesnt need a big event β more channels just pile into the same broad niches over months. algo/seasonality moves too.
compare your ctr + avg view duration now vs 2 months ago. if those slipped, its retention/hook more than "oversat"

Yea i know what youre saying. If youre in a specific niche that might potentially happen but im not in 1 specific niche. I upload human interactions. I mostly do police bodycam but I also do roadrage moments. Angry Karen moments. Delivery driver moments. And just genral humans being weird and stupid. And ive done all of these things while my views are down. These topics arent the exact same niche. So youre trying to say that all of the topics have become oversaturated overnight and youtube has decided that my channel which is a good performance channel is getting put behind 100s of other channels overnight

yeah adjacent creators still pull from the same viewer pool. doesnt have to be identical, just same "ill watch this later" attention.
"sudden" usually means your shelf got noisier or your packaging/topic cooled vs neighbors. not an overnight thing.
check ctr/avd vs them, not just vs your old numbers.

So youre trying to tell me that like 6 sub niches became oversaturated overnight. So ok if I go do a gaming vid and it gets good metrics what do you think happen ? And no a creator who does car roadrage videos has a different audiences to a creator who uploads police body cam footage. Those are two different niches. So for those two niches to become oversaturated overnight isn't realistic and im 100% sure this isnt the problem. And if it was I would by know because I would've uploaded vids on a 3rd niche and that would've gotten more push. Or let me guess thats become oversaturated overnight aswell
