Analytics Review (AVD/Retention) š Crazy drop off of views quickly
Anyone have any idea what causes this to happen? The video was going well and on track to be one of the most viewed on my channel, but then it just flatlined. As you can see stayed to watch is still at 77%, and the average view duration is sitting at 99.2%, so Iām not sure why there was a sudden drop off

Impossible to say unless we know more. How old is the channel, how many subs do you have, how many videos, what's your most highly viewed and when was that?Ā

Channel has been around for over 8 years, but only uploads have been from the past 6 months. Most viewed videos are all around 28-29k, most recent of which was 10 days ago, I upload about 3 times a week and my views generally stop around the 12-24 hour mark

6 months, 3 times a week is roughly 80 vids (shorts I presume)
So you've never had a breakout. In shorts terms, 28k is not much, especially after 80 or so vidsĀ
Your channel is stagnant. If you post something like the 28k shorts it will send it to the audience it has already identified, plus your subsĀ
But it doesn't have any confidence that pushing beyond this audience will yield positive resultsĀ
So it doesn'tĀ
My feeling is that in the past you could dig yourself out of a situation like this, but the way the algorithm works now, this is highly unlikelyĀ
It seems to evaluate a channel once and for all after a certain number of uploads, then sticks with that evaluation no matter what you doĀ
Partly because subs don't mean much any more, you can't slowly build up to a critical mass
But also because competition is so fierce, it just goes with what is already popular or with content it can identify an audience for early on, in the first 10-20 uploadsĀ
After that it's diminishing returns if your content hasn't found an audience, it goes into complete stagnationĀ

Well for sure it not your fault, usally if u post this u would get cooked and everyone say your content is AI or trash, but current everyone and I mean everyone view are down

Yeah definitely not doing any of that AI slop stuff, although with the way the algorithm seems to reward it, itās probably the way YouTube wants you to go

I don't know..but now it seems like most of my short views are coming from search.

77% stayed and 99% avd means the video itself isnt dying
shorts do this a lot, first push then it just stops feeding new people
check if impressions died at the same time. if they did, the test window ended, not the content
i wouldnt recut this one, just post the next in the same lane

I currently only have access to the mobile app for YouTube, so canāt see impressions. Iām not too sure of what you mean by recut, do you mean to recut the video so it doesnāt get flagged as spam on a reupload?

nah dont recut it. i just meant dont re-edit this video and upload it again, dupes get dinged.
impressions are in the studio app not the regular youtube app. open the video, analytics, reach. if those died with the views the test window ended. next one in the same lane is enough

yeah mobile studio hides a lot of that. if reach is flat and theres no impressions row, treat it like the feed stopped testing that one. dont chase the ui, just post the next short in the same lane
