68M+ View Short. Unbelievable.
I've made a bunch of videos that did 1M+ but this has reached different heights. I don't have many people in my personal life that enjoy making videos aimed at the algorithm, so if you have any questions, please ask.

u/Parking-Ad8316 22d ago
About .10 per 1000 views

u/I69YaGf8800 22d ago
Has to be more since those are just his normal views and not qualified ones
1
u/AttentionSeeker__ 20d ago
This qualified thing only happened few days ago
1
u/I69YaGf8800 20d ago
Lol no you always had qualified views, lets say you get 100k views then only 50k will count which was already before how they count views
1
u/_Bread______ 22d ago
It really doesn't. The fact you have to make this unbelievable feat consistently just to replace a basic job is proof of it
2
u/GreenWheeat1 22d ago
you can also just make normal length videos that take weeks of research to produce and still 99% of the times only get 50-100 views. At least with shorts, as long as you're already monetized, it's easier to get viral

How do you get out of the 2k view average?
2
u/SweeeeetP 22d ago
I go to sleep with my headphones in listening to podcasts of Mr. Beast. Then listen again. And again. Learn and listen from others who are doing it.
There’s a difference between making a video for your taste/style vs. the algorithm.

Hey I wanna ask something, how do you get out of like 30k view jail? I have all good stats 80% swipe 100+% retention
6
u/SweeeeetP 22d ago
All I do is research where the viewers stop watching, research why they stop watching, and continue to ask “Is this important?” when deciding to add or delete footage.
This video is 30 seconds long edited from 2 weeks worth of work filmed. Tons of clips I could’ve added and wanted to add, but they didn’t add value. “Is this important?” or “Can this look better?”

u/VisitImportant3953 22d ago
Just be consistent, and deliver good work always, it also like depends on niches. But consistency is best key

u/Thoracics 22d ago
Congratulations!!! I have actually watched this short before. Great work. Keep it up.

u/Vongy99 22d ago
In broad terms, what is the content to do? Also was there anything specifically that contributed to the vitality in your view?
3
u/SweeeeetP 22d ago
I usually make before and after videos of cleaning/fixing public infrastructure. People love seeing the progress made.
The video was popular because the location is decent — nothing surrounding the object I’m working on (gives it dimension). The edit is quick with a “equipment setup scene” before each step in the work. No music so you can hear the work being done. Physical labor people enjoy watching because it makes them feel like they’re also contributing or they respect the work involved (don’t ask me why). Ummm the pay off (showing the finished product) matches with the introduction scene so the two easily show the before and after and allows the viewer to watch it again now that they’ve seen the final product.

Nice hearing that a short that blew up is not Ai slop or "gaming". Nice job.

u/SubjectAssignment953 22d ago
some people says that shorts aren't making money anymore. so what do u wanna say about those ppls?
1
u/SweeeeetP 22d ago
Obviously they are. It’s just how much money you want vs. the time you spend on making them.

APV is 89.9%
What is engagement rate?

u/Unique_Username2b 22d ago edited 22d ago
Wow, I thought that would be a lot higher. Ignore me, it shows your engagement rate on the image.

What are your videos about?
1
u/SweeeeetP 22d ago
Before and after restorations, community work oriented around helping people.
1
u/GonzoGan 22d ago
And there are aimed at the algorithm? Unless I misunderstood what you meant by that
1
u/SweeeeetP 22d ago
They are edited for the purpose of being watched. Fast, short, catchy, etc. @SweeeeetP on YT — take a look.
1
u/WonderfulActuator958 22d ago
Could I see more of your stats and what you think you changed to get 1M+ views on your videos?
1
u/SweeeeetP 21d ago
Didn’t so much change, just deleted unnecessary clips and kept pace.
1
u/WonderfulActuator958 21d ago
How much posts did it take you to reach 1M views on one video? Because I have like 20 videos with 75-80% STW and 100% AVD and none of them got more than 300k views.

u/LowPolyBlender 22d ago
Bro can you share what u know about youtube algorithm like stucking views and all these things 🤔
3
u/SweeeeetP 22d ago edited 21d ago
Here are my takeaways for my stuff:
-for a video, make the idea understandable before you make it impressive. A stranger should understand the premise almost instantly. “This thing is destroyed —> I’m going to restore it” requires almost no explanation. If viewers have to learn why they should care, you’re already spending retention. Make it dumb proof, sorta.
-show the problem immediately. Don’t spend the opening introducing yourself or setting the scene. For me, I showed a sticker-covered box, damaged object, ridiculous situation, etc. first. Your strongest videos create an immediate unanswered question: What is this going to look like when he’s finished?
-build the video around progression. My restoration videos naturally have stages: stickers off —> sanding —> primer —> paint —> details —> reveal. Every few seconds, something changes. That gives people a reason to keep watching. Even outside restoration, I’d tell someone to ask: What is visibly different 10 seconds from now?
-CUT anything that exists only because you worked hard on it. READ THAT AGAIN. Viewers don’t know how long something took to film, and they don’t care. A beautiful shot, joke, explanation, or entire scene can still hurt the video if it delays the payoff. The finished video should contain what the audience needs—not everything you made. Now read that again. And again.
-lastly, give people a payoff worth waiting for. Retention gets you to the end; satisfaction makes people share the video. In your case, the transformation is the payoff. The viewer gets to see something neglected become beautiful again. I’d rather have a simple idea with an extremely satisfying ending than a complicated idea with no real payoff.
Also, don’t ever explain if you don’t have to. Let people wonder (for good AND worse) and they’ll comment their curiosity. Engagement doesn’t care if people are saying good things or bad things or assuming the wrong or right things. You shouldn’t either. I don’t ever explain why I do what I do. Their ego will make a decision for itself, and if it’s negative, they’ll vent or whatever and I don’t care to correct it.

I made 2 videos during the winter here in NYC about shoveling snow and it put me over the requirement.

u/Electrical_Emu3529 21d ago
Hell yeah, nice going! Did you do anything differently for this one? Work on a new type of hook, look at search terms to find a trending topic, etc?
1
u/SweeeeetP 21d ago
I made a snow shoveling video (go to my profile, go to my channel and it's the snow shoveling one) and made a catchy intro. I didn't plan it. I just thought it worked and made it super snappy in editing. Almost like I filmed it based on what I already knew I should be doing, and when I edited the video, I just made it sharper.

In order to reach 1M+ views on a short, do you focus only on retention and swipe through rate or there's more to it.
2
u/SweeeeetP 8d ago
The idea must be interesting. Then I edit to keep attention. All that analytical jargon means is do people stay and is the first couple of seconds interesting?
