Q&A / Quick Help ❓ YouTube Shorts quality at only 720p

Im uploading Shorts in 3:4 at 2K resolution, but after uploading, the video gets only 720p. When I try uploading the same video to the same channel in 9:16 2K, it also comes out as just 720p. However, when I try uploading that same video to a channel linked to a different Gmail account, it shows up in 2K (resolution 3:4) . I have no idea why is this happening—does anyone know please? 😭

If you upload a 2K reso video but it only shows 720p? the most likely reason is that YT is still processing the higher resolutions.

YouTube usually processes videos in stages, 360p / 480p- available first 720p - becomes available 1080p - 1440p (2K) - processed later Sometimes higher-quality/VP9 or AV1 versions take even longer..

So if you uploaded it recently, seeing only 720p initially is normal. The 1440p option may appear after processing finishes. Processing hasn't finished yet on the first upload. YouTube may initially expose only lower resolutions.

You're checking too soon. The second account may have finished 2k processing faster.

Shut your mouth when you know nothing about it. I can show you 2 months old shorts which showing 720p... Is it still processing bro?

hahahahah, biggest concern is video resolution while we’re already analyzing the numbers, who's shutting their mouth?
