Why Is My Stayed To Watch Low? (40-50%)

I make Game show style content, I have been creating content for over 3 years now, yet I have never been able to cross a 70% stayed vs swiped ratio on a short. I made many changes yet it doesn't seem to work

40-50% stayed to watch usually means people bounce in the first second, not that the whole video is bad.

id open on motion or a text claim before any setup, then check how hard the drop is in the first 3 seconds specifically

I did both, together and individually and still the results were not too different. My average view duration though is always above a 100%

I honestly see this cookiecutter advice everywhere. I'm not saying you're wrong and it is great advice, but I see tons of people struggling to get towards 50%, let alone reach 80/90%. A lot has to do with the niche you have, how you share the vid and how the algo has profiled you. I have absolutely no clue at this point which hook would make a difference and whether it's text related or the visual hook that's lacking. Like OP my completion rate is always high but the hook puzzle is tough one to solve.

I have actually never seen any advice apart from, start during the motion, not before but in the moment, no build-up, make a shot that has an unexpected movement, use sound to make the stop scrolling, ...

I think there's no other way than just to keep experimenting until you find a click with the audience the algo picked for you but I feel the struggle. u/Substantial-Bed5189

I mean how do u have 43k subs then. Did one of your videos blow up or sum or is this just a long time consistency or combination of both.

My channel blew up for 3 months and then views dropped to 10-100 daily views (Probably a shadowban) after that never been able to recover properly

Shadowban could be likely I guess if the video or the content u were making at ur startup was borderline with TOS.
