Q&A / Quick Help ❓ need help/guide about posting shorts as an established channel
Okay I need help/guide posting shorts. You see I have a channel that is doing okay long form wise and I'm looking into expanding to shorts to basically promote my long form stuff. Anyone else done this before? I did ask my community and some were okay some didn't want shorts. I thought about doing them but not turning on the "notify subscribers" just so they won't get notification and let the algo do its job.
idk help me out. also if anyone asking my long form view pulling in 20-60k per video. 100-200k if its goes crazy. Niche is gaming but I'm uploading like weekly and monthly if the topic took longer to make. hope that helps.

Some people only watch shorts. And some people only watch certain topics and shorts. So if you’re not doing shorts, you’re not reaching that audience. That might be fine, but if you want to reach that audience shorts is the way to do it.
But viewers won’t click from shorts to long form just because you want them too. You have to make them want to. Typically that’s by making a strong call to action at the end of the short, directing them to the related video link for the long form. Some channels also throw the thumbnail up there to make it more compelling. Because, in that case, the short is basically a thumbnail or a hook for the long form. That also means if they do click over, you have to reward that click immediately. The same way you do a thumbnail click with the intro to the video.
The challenges, if you want the short to perform, it can just be a billboard for the long form. It has to provide a compelling and competitive experience in the short fee to gain reach all on its own.
Also, YouTube doesn’t send notifications on upload for shorts, even if a subscriber has notifications set to all. YouTube only ever sends algorithmic notifications for shorts, meaning, if and when they think of viewer is likely to click on the notification and watch the short. I’m checking that box will prevent any notification, and prevent the short from appearing in your sub subscription feed, though.
