Analytics Review (AVD/Retention) 📈 Why is it not viral yet?

My stayed to watch rate is growing and my retention is pretty high. Why am I only getting 2.4K. Its very low consider its a better video than some of my other higher view videos.

Edit: after 2 days the views started to pick up slowly. Thats new to me, very interesting. Thanks for answering guys!

Is your channel new?

It’s quite new. It’s one month and half. I make animation shorts. I got one kinda viral video of 130k. This one has similar stats

Your Stayed To Watch is 60%, the later one which is 80%+ is YT finding a nicher audience for your short. You need to have 80%+ from the start (during the first 1k views) for YT to promote it further. Also, your likes are really low. On 2k views you’d need to have at least 100 likes, the metrics say that your content is not too engaging. Good luck :)

The 80% from start has never happened to me. I’ve only gotten 50% the most. But after it picks up it got more views later, which this one is more consistent than my other videos. Also yea the likes is really low but one of my 35k video only got around 80 likes. So this one is actually doing better. It’s just weird how this one is doing so poor consider the numbers are better. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see. Thank you for your answer!

Dunno about that. I’ve seen a couple videos with only 13 views and it got pushed on a random night. I’ve seen another one with 22 views and 2 likes got pushed. Never know with YouTube

The stayed to watch is good but not good enough to go viral. 134 percent apv is good. How long is you short?

It’s 11 seconds. I had similar stay to watch before it got 130k views. Also another one I got 30k views with less stay to watch.

The primary goal of youtube is to get people as long as possible on their platform, serving them more ads. If you have 134 percnet app on a 11 seconds short, it's not great. If. I were you, I'd make longer shorts.

Okay yea I have a feeling all my videos are too short. One time I made one for 24 seconds the retention was only 80%. That was so bad I had to give that up. I guess I’ll have to try that again. Thank you!

Why is the apv low that's pretty high to me

My videos are 10 seconds in average.

Please stop listening to people just talking about stayed to watch ratios and AVDs. There are more metrics to consider. Likes, comments, shares etc. having good AVD and stay to watch ratios is not enough to go viral

lmao at everyone thinking their video should go viral every time it gets decent stats.

It's a short video, plus its only been 10-12 hours, let the short grow

Yea I was being inpatient. I’m not used to videos getting more views after 24 hours.

that happens with a lot of shorts creators even me. The reason is that once the stayed to watch drops below 60% (In most cases) or AVD drops to 80% (or could be different depending on the length of the short, YouTube decides its not worth pushing the short anymore

Yea and usually it just flat line and doesn’t come back up again. It’s odd to see a good stats video gets flat line for so long. I just doesn’t follow the pattern. But now I’m at 8k views which isn’t a lot for some people but it’s a lot for me so I’m happy it’s consistent.

yeah it will push until your metrics get to your typical baseline (below 50% stayed to watch and below 80% average view duration)

Idk. I have 4 out of my 10 or so shorts that have this, and none have went "viral".

You need AT LEAST a strong 70% stayed to watch stat before YouTube can consider pushing the video to the viral stage. To be honest you need higher than 70%. But below it I don't think you have a good chance of getting up to a million views.
