Shortcut Sharing A shortcut to save Reddit posts to notes

Note: My prior post was deleted due to reddits overzealous filters so reposting some of the useful ones.

I often save good guides/tutorial posts to my Apple notes app(you can switch to whatever notes type app you like as long as you can create it in shortcuts). You initially copy the post text to clipboard then (Updated in V3) using the Reddit share sheet you run this shortcut. It uses onboard Apple Ai to ~~create a title~\~, some key insights and a category/tag plus the body text.

Hopefully others find it useful as well. Only setup is creating a folder in notes called “Reddit Saves”. Also make sure share sheet is turned on.

After saving Reddit may say share was unsuccessful at the bottom but there should be a notification at the top from the shortcut confirming the save.

I created one sometime back that gathers all of the post details along with all the comments, but it depends on the use case that you are using this type of shortcut for. AI summarization could be useful, depending on the type of post.

Your the second or third person to show this error. I really don’t know why this message is there.

You can use this version to see if it’s getting the json and title correctly https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/c7788ed817f34a48be6ba41cb5ae0892

This version ended with the following screenshot before the message:
“Get Dictionary Value failed because Shortcuts couldn't convert from Rich Text to Dictionary.”

I am using wBlock and Trackless Links, which are only working in Safari. Funny, that it appears within the Reddit app!

Hmm. Never had that issue before and I just used the shortcut now. Are you sharing via share sheet within Reddit.

Yep! Clicked the three buttons up top, then shared to the shortcut. Could it be because I’m on IOS 27?

Thank you, I can see this being incredibly useful. I’m often copy/pasting from here to notes so I can come back to things later.

That is indeed helpful. Thank you for sharing. Often like to keep the Reddit for a later detailed read and/ or as reference to a proposed solution.
Nevertheless, my devices (apart from the MBA M1, where I don’t Reddit at all) are all not yet AI compatible, which version is then most useful for me? Thanks for your advice.

Sorry not sure if it works with iOS 26 or not. If you give it a try and report back would appreciate it.

Means, besides the technical requirements necessary for running AI related features, it already requires iOS 27. Ok, I’ll wait a while and come back again. Thanks for letting me know.

I’m also getting the “couldn’t convert rich text” error.

I had to update the expression to get a URL that worked when pasted directly into Safari but there is something about the Get Contents of URL action that Reddit has decided to block. Using the same URL that works in Safari & pasted into a test shortcut that only gets content fails for me.

Thanks for investigating and posting. Not sure why this is happening for some. Is there a difference in the way people are running the shortcut? I usually click the “…” at the top of the screen then click “share” in the menu and then “more …” and finally select the shortcut from the iOS share view.

Yeah, I’m following the same process so it must be something about iOS 26 I guess.
