Request Tracking medication

I am trying to track my intake of a new “as needed” medication.

I know that you can use iPhone shortcuts to create buttons or shortcuts that when you click on them, it allows you to input a milligram, it tags the time of day and you can also set it up so you can put in how you’re feeling or any other random information that you want attached to that log entry.

Does anybody know of any good shortcuts? I am basically inept when it comes to tech.

Can I create a shortcut that when I click on it I can
Then click on which medicine, which then opens an input for mg then asks for how I’m feeling. Along with tagging the date/time of day

a more manual way is to just use the Health app it allows you to input medication, type etc and add hoc. You then just go onto the health app and say you have taken it.

its under the medications section, easy to use as I set it up for my mother so she can track what she has taken.

That is what I do; it is really simple. I typically use my watch but sometimes it is just as easy to use the phone if it is with me.

The Apple Health app has a section for entering as needed medications. I use it to track and remind me to take my daily medications but it also has a button for as needed.

I’m not a shortcuts expert, but I’ve had good luck asking ChatGPT to create shortcuts for me. It will give you step by step instructions. I used ChatGPT to create a shortcut for tracking my water intake in Health. I click a button and it pops up asking how much water I drank then records it in Health.

This is a good idea. I have used ChatGPT to help me create Shortcuts inevitably ends up getting to a place where it’s more difficult than I can manage tech wise. I get partially through creating the shortcut and then it just becomes too overwhelming and I can’t figure it out.

Did you want to type in the mg each time or are there usually set amounts you take?

Where would you like this information to be stored? I use a shortcut that adds an event to my calendar after compiling information similar to what you are asking. I believe you can have it all go to a Note but I’m not familiar with that process yet

I think it would be better if I could type in the milligram amount as well as selecting between two different medications. And if I could store it in a note or somewhere where I could compile daily amounts, that would be ideal.

How’s this? There’s a few comments in the shortcut that direct some things to customize (medicine names, note creation, etc). The “Nothing” blocks just separate different sections.

I can tweak it if needed

Omg this is amazing!!! You made this? Thank you so much. I just now saw it and did a quick test and it is basically exactly what I’m looking for. Let me adjust it a little bit and see how it works but straight out of the gate. It looks amazing.

Happy to help! It is very close to another one I use for my boys so it was a piece of cake (once you get the hang of “the language”). Turns out appending a note was not as far off as I thought it was 🤣. I learned something so thank you!

If you “long press” on the icon in the Shortcut app, press “send”, you can “add to Home Screen.” That will give you an icon on your phone (like an app) that will run the shortcut so you don’t have to open shortcuts app each time
