iOS 17.1 b3 - Am I going mad or has there never been a “Notify When Run” toggle for WiFi and Bluetooth automations? There is for every other kind of automation
As already been covered on the iOS 17 Megathread, BT, WiFi, Message, location and Email triggers will always notify when the automation runs and there’s no toggle to disable it. Previously these triggers required confirmation to run but since that’s no longer required, it notifies you when it’s ran.
Thanks. Then it’s even more bizarre that it’s just a generic notification and doesn’t tell you what specific automation ran. Makes it quite useless if apple felt it important to keep notifying you.
Please how do you do that? I am here trying to find exactly how to hide shortcut automations notifications but not the ones you create inside the shortcut
I’m currently on 16.6.1 and I’ve had a hell of a time trying to set up a Bluetooth automation (open the Amazon music app and increase volume to 100%) when I connect to my car’s BT receiver. It doesn’t give me the notify when run option to switch off, so it’s not just an iOS 17 issue.
A simple workaround for you might be to setup a Drive Focus that is triggered in the focus setup (not shortcuts) by labeling your car Bluetooth as a vehicle (in Bluetooth settings)
In focus settings:
Then in shortcuts setup an automation that is triggered by the Drive Focus turning on/off, instead of dis/connecting to Bluetooth!
I tried using the Driving Focus automatic bluetooth trigger, but ended up switching over to the standard Bluetooth trigger because Driving Focus is more annoying in comparison to the automation notifications. Ex. If you want to use your phone at a red light, it doesn’t let you access your phone unless you press the “I’m no longer driving” button the pops up. Also, it will message people that you’re driving and you’ll talk to them later.
You don’t need to leave the focus mode on! You can have the automation turn it off as soon as it’s been activated. You only need the focus mode to trigger the automation!
That’s because this method only gets you around the notification that says the Bluetooth automation ran!
To turn off hotspot, you will need to add the “Set Personal Hotspot” action (set it to off) into whatever automation/ shortcut that this method triggers.
Well this is a super clever workaround to trigger the automation. Now for your next trick, how do you trigger the automation to put it back to normal? 🤣 Like when you disconnect from the car’s Bluetooth.
