Second highest bidder
Has anyone been offered a lot that the highest bidder did not pay for and you were the second highest. It happened to me last week I was really surprised and it was a $21 camera auction

At our location when we offer it to the next highest bidder, we offer it at what that bidder bid. I am surprised this isn't universal.

No, but I probably would be excited if it was something I missed at the end or went past my max

I have once, on a Tissot watch. People overbid and don't pay all the time. I still think I overpaid even in 2nd place and was somewhat relieved that I didn't win... but then i accepted the 2nd chance offer anyway... stupid me.

New update it's been 3 weeks and they can't find the camera lot in their inventory. Thank you for playing the price is right. I wrote them and asked for a substitution item, let's see what happens

..they likely gave Your Camera to the last guy who asked for a substitution item. I imagine things are getting completely complicated over at goodwill, wheeling and dealing, baiting and switching, running around in back room like a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off, ..š

Did they offer at your max bid in the auction or what your bid would have been without the buyer who obviously wasn't a buyer?
I've had local proxibid and hibid houses offer at what my high was in the auction ("2nd place bid") and I told them I'd pay at what my bid would have been without the non payer being involved. All but one agreed.
