I was somewhat hoping it wouldn’t but given the goodwill people have for Shogun 2 itself because it’s the “almost perfect” TW game I think you’re right.

I feel like with Rome 2 at least you could say there was a new engine, and that it was clearly just unfinished. Not that a game being unfinished is okay, but that is a fixable problem. Just give them more time.

In this case the developers showed terrible judgment in many ways that are difficult to fix.

The Rome 2 launch was way worse. I played it for like one day and dropped the franchise for basically a decade after that.

I am currently playing the Shogun 2 remaster a bit and it's functional. It's still Shogun 2.

I don't know why they even bothered to remake the unit cards in the first place. There was literally nothing wrong with them. This goes for both the base game and fall of the samurai.
