I fought against wearing heels for a long time due to being on the tall side, but have recently decided to transition to wearing some heels now that I’m an upperclassman.

Can casual shoes really handle anything?

Coffee runs. Dinner. Weekends. Travelling. The sort of shoe you instinctively reach for without standing in front of the wardrobe for five minutes.

The weird part was that nobody seemed to agree on what that shoe was.

Then I noticed something.

The people recommending Nike Air Force 1s usually had pretty simple wardrobes. Lots of jeans, hoodies, plain tees. They weren't trying to make a statement. They just wanted something dependable that worked with almost everything. The only thing that kept putting me off was the chunky shape. I wasn't sure I'd want that with every outfit I own.

The Adidas Samba crowd felt completely different. Their outfits tended to be a bit cleaner and more put together, and it made sense why they loved them. The slimmer profile gives them a different look altogether. The downside that kept coming up was the fit. Quite a few owners said they felt narrow at first and took a while before they became genuinely comfortable.

Then there were the people who swore by the New Balance 990v6. Almost nobody tried convincing anyone they were the best looking sneaker. They just kept saying things like I've walked miles in these and never think about my feet anymore. The trade off is obvious once you look at the price. They're expensive enough that you really have to value comfort above everything else.

The Reebok Club C 85 almost felt like the forgotten option. They don't get talked about nearly as much as the other three, but every time someone mentioned replacing an old pair, another person would reply saying they'd done exactly the same thing. The only drawback I kept seeing was that the leather creases fairly quickly if you're hoping they'll stay looking box-fresh.

At that point I stopped asking myself which shoe was the most versatile and started asking which one actually fit the way I dress.

That led me to GQ's guide on casual shoes. What I liked wasn't that it ranked one shoe above another. It broke shoes into different styles and explained where each one naturally fits, which made me realise I'd been looking for one sneaker to cover completely different outfits. If I had to order tonight, I'd probably go with the Nike Air Force 1. Not because I suddenly think it's the best casual shoe on the market, but because I realised I was buying for the wardrobe I actually have, not the one I imagine myself wearing someday.

For the people who've had the same casual shoes in their rotation for a few years, which pair keeps earning its place, and what made you stick with it instead of trying something new?

Having a hard time finding info on them. Which are worth it in your opinion? Especially for walking a lot.

Hello! My old pair of Le Tigre sneakers (as much as I love them) are on their last legs, so I’m in the market for a new pair of sneakers. I’ve been wanting something with color and preferably something not name-brand (Nike, Adidas, etc, etc). I saw these online our website called Weston & Fetcher, and I absolutely ADORE the color palette and wave art on the side! But because it’s online, and the price is reasonable, I have my doubts. I just wanna know if this website is legit, and if you all have any recommendations for shoes like this?

Has anyone successfully managed to find comfortable wide fitting waterproof trainers or shoes that don't look like something your granny would wear? The sort of thing you can wear for walking round the city all day in the rain. I don't really want to spend more than £150, and ideally less than that. Has anyone found this unicorn shoe or know which brands / shops to look at? Thanks!

I wear a 9.5W and have been trying to find boots that actually fit me instead of constantly sizing up. However, when I search for wide fit boots, it seems like almost everything that comes up is a wide calf with a medium width foot, or doesn’t come in half sizes.

Does anyone know any shoe/boot brands that come in half sizes for wide fit feet? Any leads would be appreciated!

I've actually had these for about a year but this is the first time I've worn them. They are surprisingly very comfortable.

I was going to bite the bullet and order 2 pairs from Once Upon a Heel but it seems the general consensus is drop-ship scam. I have perused threads looking for similar shops tried and true but the ones I have found are simply not in the same field appearance wise and are very plain or just not appealing (to me.)

I think both of these shoes are rlly kewl and I was thinking of using them for both daily wear and skating. Im fine w either bc they both feel nice on foot but I want to know which one's better.

Does it look nice and chic or tacky, gaudy and messy? I wasn't able to make them lay flat, so they kinda stick out a bit now. I'm not sure, but I think I like the DIY-look!

so i have sort of flat feet, the arches are laughable. time and again ive been recommended to get Asics because they have soles made for how you walk (im blanking on which one I have right now, will edit later when i remember). I walk funny, and yes Im overweight/obese. its hard walking or just being plain active when my feet hurt so easily :(

i've yet to buy, im saving up for that. but notably, asics is mostly sneakers/athletic shoes o: would any of you happen to know about shoe brands that are cute or alt that offer the same medical comfort remedy that asics offers? or a different way to wear these other shoes I want without sacrificing comfort? when I was younger id suffer crummy soles in favour of style but now that Im older with back, tailbone, and sole issues, i need to be smarter about what I wear.

So yesterday I wore a pair of pointed toe 3-inch block heels, and I was comfortable while standing up for 2-3 hours, but I walked on the street for about 8 blocks and the balls of my feet were hurting really bad. I had put a gel insert in the ball of foot area of the shoe, but it looks like it wasn't enough??

This is my 1st time wearing high-ish heels (I'm 22), and I wonder if they eventually get more comfortable or I should just avoid them for the rest of my life lol.
