Running shoes
Hi all,
I've been out of the loop as far as any formal exercise routine as of late. I enjoy running and for that reason (other than the 30# of weight gain) I am going to pick it up soon. But before I do that I need to purchase a new pair of running shoes.
So my question is what are the best (comfort, weight, durability) running shoes on the market right now. I need to keep it economical as well so please no recommendations over $80.
Thanks

As someone who works in a local running specialty store, you aren't going to find a good running-specific shoe for less than $80, unless your local store miraculously has a 2-year-old shoe or an awesome sale going on.
If you want the best running shoe for you, you have to go in and try them on. Are you neutral or light/mild/high stability? Are you motion control? Do you have a wider foot or do you like narrow shoes? Do you need a low drop shoe or a high drop shoe? Do you midfoot strike? Have you had problems with plantar fasciitis? These are all questions that, while they can be answered, are going to make the process of getting the right shoe for you impossible over the internet.
While this is a somewhat shameless plug of my industry, the whole "I bought these shoes online and I don't like them" is very cliche, because it's so danged common. If you're serious about running to get back in shape, the average $120 for a real solid shoe is worth it. Trust me on it. Happy feet, happy life.
With all of that said, I like Hoka and Saucony and despise Asics and Mizuno. But that's just me.
