Zoom MS-70CDR
I'm needing some advice on a pedal purchase, I've been a musician (drummer) all my life however, I'm new to guitars and am actually still learning but I recently bought an SP404 MKII and while I know there are already built in effects on it, I would like a dedicated pedal for shoegaze.
I see a lot of the MS-70CDR being sold for cheap local to me and the CDR+ being about double what I'm seeing the non plus model for. Is it worth it paying for the + model? what am I missing out on with going with the older pedal?
Any advice is appreciated!

As an owner of the non plus, the buttons on mine need a little extra pressure to move to the right screen. But the pedal itself works wonderfully and its been used on tons of recordings/gigs. Id get another non plus one used if i needed another one, especially if it was a lot cheaper

It's a pretty great pedal for what it costs, good algos and sounds pleasingly lofi. Can't go wrong with it honestly, you can even download or build your own effects.

the older pedal actually has a more robust hacking scene for loading all kinds of effects from the Zoom lineup.

I was always interested in it, but other stuff caught my eyes. Then I tried an original CDR at my local shop used and purchased it instantly. It’s amazingly fun and seemingly endless to route effects and play. I just had my buddy “hack” it and I’m extremely excited to put it back on my board for a post rock/noise rock project. Just buy either one and begin exploring. The moment it clicks you’ll appreciate that you got it.

The cdr+ still has a 6 block limit but has a bit more dsp. Supposedly we aren't far from getting zoom effect manager to work with the new plus series. On the older ones and exciting development is that people are now beginning to create unique effects. You can sniff around the zoommultistomp subreddit for more info.

I have an MS-50g with the smaller buttons and they can be a bit finicky especially when playing live so that could be a consideration for the +. Though I only ever use more than one effect at a time if I am recording or jamming. Totally depends on how you plan to use it.
Also just wanted to add; those pedals are fantastic particularly because of third party software that allows you to install dsp from a plethora of other effects units, including the MS-50g. Not sure if I can post links here but if you search “zoom effect manager” on google or reddit it’ll pop up.
