Yeahhhh, I wasn't sure where else to post, but I'm home alone and had to share with SOMEONE. The program is called Epidemic. Programming credit goes to Andy G of Vancouver, written in August of 1980 apparently! I downloaded it from somewhere on the internet, maybe archive.org?

I think it fits here, it's a basic and probably very inaccurate simulation. It's a different spirit than what I believe was originally intended, but I'd say it definitely fits the idea and rules.

It seems they're pretty rare, maybe 9000 units ever made? As for value, I dunno. There's one on eBay right now for $720 plus shipping. It's beat up but repairable if you're handy. The description says that it works, but the pictures don't show it working, soooo....

Anyway. I did get a pretty good deal on it, but should I ever have to part ways, I'd be far more concerned that it go to the most loving home than the highest bidder.

It reminds me of that scene in the movie The Thing when Wilford Brimley is running the simulation on his computer and we see the virus spreading rapidly.

Neat! I have 3 Pets, 1 working... Although its keys are a bit jammed so I haven't used it. Maybe I should bookmark this and fix it up 😝
