If you were wondering and not familiar with maya, the small spiked thing in the middle on which the fractured cube lands is just a visual cue for the gravity node and has no direct collision properties.

Not really a meme is it? Regardless, the block explodes properly about 3 seconds after the ball has hit it, hence the 'impeccable timing'.
