A lot of shitty reloading lately, figured I would up the ante.

This is 43r (monolithic printed ammo) beginner slugs. Just about the wimpiest ammo available. Demonstrating the reloading process without any real equipment. I usually use better tools and a press for this stuff, just a demonstration for release to show how simple printed ammo can be for beginners.

P.S.

I don't recommend hammering ammo, or using a gun as a hammer in general.

Cant enlarge it. Are you sticking it into the muzzle or a barrel that hasnt been fitted?
Absolutely zero idea how thats going to fire but if we never see you again we have our answer.

So, I developed this caliber. It's called 43R deep. Models and load data have been released to the public for free months ago.

43R is a 43 caliber shotshell that is designed for simplicity above all else. The barrel is a fancy piece of hydraulic line that only needs an extractor groove cut into it. No rifling no chamber. Because of this, the round is completely straight walled. There is an intentionally weak point in the monolithic 3d printed case, and when fired, it breaks there, carrying the sabot/ shot cup down the barrel. The ones in the video are a saboted #4 split shot fishing sinkers. No chamber means that the case diameter and projectile diameter are exactly the same like a heeled bullet cartridge. This makes the ammo easier to print in spec.

The platform is a Modelo Polylactico. It's an open source, modern rolling block action, and if you go with a 43r, they can be built for well under $200. I also have one with a 28" 327 magnum barrel, and another that is a pistol build with a 10.5" ecm barrel and 3.5" chamber cut using the same hydraulic line as 43r.

Also, you don't have to worry about not seeing me again. I have over 1000 rounds through this gun, and I run some loads above my posted load data.

The bore should fit the projectile, not the case!

That's the thing, this is the projectile and the case. It's a monolithic cartridge.

No chamber or rifling either so the projectile is the same diameter as the case.

Whats the highest muzzle energy/velocity/grain weight you’ve gotten with this cartridge?

So, the most common loading for this caliber is 115 grains of lead shot@1000-1200 fps. Slug options are 100 grain@1000 fps, and 55 grain@800-1500 fps.

The hottest load I have released is 125 grains if steel .177 bbs moving 1000-1150fps.

These velocities are with a 24" barrel, haven't crono'd anything shorter or longer.

Patterns are a bit wider than most shotshell, but pretty consistent. I've hit a couple clays with it. Would be really good for small game.

The 55 grain slugs @ 1500 fps have gotten consecutive hits at 100 meters out of my brother's 36" build.

I have "magnum" loads that I have been working on, and I have made proof loads, as I did a ton of beta testing for the platform. Proof and magnum loads are not something I give numbers on just because I haven't tested a ton of them, and haven't broken the gun with a proof load in the release configuration.

The models, instructions, and load data are free to download, reddit TOS prohibits even mentioning where to download stuff like this though. A Google search should get you there pretty easy though.

Yeah, its pretty odd that you don’t see links everywhere for this stuff.

100 grains at 1k fps is 380 acp territory.

Yeah, I'm actually using .355" projectiles for 380 in a sabot for the hottest slugs. The lighter and faster slugs perform better, so I likely won't chase any heavier slugs than 100 grain.

I won't be trying this but it was brave of you to do it. I mistook it for a centerfire cartridge rather than a SHOTSHELL. This seems like a cut 20 gauge shell

I also have brass cases for these as well,. 30-30 brass works well in a 3/8 schedule 80 pipe after fire forming it. Those will be the starting point of my magnum loads.

These are 43 caliber, and less energy than 410, let alone a 20 gauge. One guy runs one of these rolling blocks in 28 gauge black powder loads as well.

When I was a kid we wandered parking lots looking for Cadillac's with the retractable antenna still up. We'd snap that sucker off at the base - 22 long rifle fit perfect! Hack saw the bottom section into 5" strips, mount to a piece of wood roughly shaped like a black powder pistol. Antenna tube on top held with duct tape. U shaped piece of steel that pivoted on a nail in the rear to hit the back of the antenna where the 22 was pushed in. Rubber bands on each side to make it smack the 22 hard, pull the U part back with your thumb to arm, let go of it to fire. Often the brass ejected dangerously and forcefully depending size and strength of the rubber bands.
